The Edge 2000 Pads?

Is anyone using The Edge 2000 pads with their 7424XP? The look to be a very nice alternative to the backing plate/counterweight method.
 
Didn't know they were still made. Are they or are they just stock?



I use to use them and loved them.

The Edge 2000 system is a great concept and I enjoyed using them. 3D used to carry them as well, but discontinued them as they never really sold much. Customers that did purchased them loved them though and still ask about them all the time.



What little we have left are in bargain bins at our store locations.
 
I think they were bought by 3M. I had a few 8" for rotary, then I discovered I didn't care for 8" pads.
 
How much pressure do you guys use? I don't know if my eyes were playing tricks with me, but the pad seemed to stop spinning with very little pressure applied. If I didn't use enough pressure, it bounces around on the panel. What kind of pressure were you guys using with these pads and the 7424XP?

While the Edge adaptor will probably weigh less than (at least most) backing plates, I wouldn't think you'd do away with the counterweight.

No. While some of us do like the 6" counterweight, it doesn't really make all *that* much difference and there are plenty of people who say they don't notice any difference at all. It's not a big deal.



If the Edge adaptor weighs less than your "usual" backing plate, the 5" one might even be a better match :nixweiss



I hardly *EVER* say this, but you don't need to overthink this one.
 
Edge was purchased by 3M. i also like the system but am having hard time finding anything but 8 inch pads. what happen to the 6 inch pads? wish 3m would make them again. Maybe ill drop them a e-mail and see if i can find some answer.
