The economy is bad, people trying everything for money

Not sure if this kind of stuff has been posted before, but I have gotten a couple of these e-mails along with phone calls from different states in the past few months. Fun to read, but a waste of my time.



Example:



Merlin Davis, speaking..am hearing impaired.....my uncle had an accident on his way to visit our family in florida..with his Cadillac escalade 2007. .but the repair has been done so....I want the car tow back to the state here in your shop ..so you can do the auto detailing service for him, can you handle that for me yes I do live here in state and the vehicle is with the tow guy in MI and they will have it tow to your workshop for an estimation by next week Wednesday between 11:00am so i will be needing your shop address to forward to the shipper that will be coming with the car ....will you be able to handle everything done for me and do you accept credit card. that fine the car is with the tow guy and There`s no insurance involved so can i have your name and full workshop address where the car will be tow to for the cleaning so get back to me ASAP



Or this one:



This is Mrs Kate Fox, i would like to know if you do Auto Cleaning & Detailing in your shop and do you accept credit cards for payment, can i speak with the owner or the manager actually i just relocated from my old house in IL, down to your city 3 days ago and i would like to know if you can handle the cleaning for me and actually i have 3 cars of that, can you do the total calculation for the cleaning for the 3 cars and basically i just moved in to your state now and i am at the hospital right now because i was down with a diagnosis of cancer of the lungs as such i had to spend some time in the intensive care,so i want to do the cleaning arrangement for the cars and after completing the payment with my credit card,so that i can contact the towing company delivery in IL, to move those cars down to your shop for the cleaning Asap, so let me know if you can handle that for me.

Yeah I would say so. When I got the first e-mail, I saw all the other detail / body shops he sent it to. Come on man....really?
 
I'm not a business guy and don't see this kind of stuff at all.

I'm wondering how old hearing impaired Merlin and lung cancer Kate are actually going to transform the scenario into cash for them? Are they going to 'have problems' shipping the vehicle(s) to you and ask for cash to deliver the vehicles to you? Are they then going to tell you to add the up front cash for delivery to the credit card bill? Then they take the cash and run.

So, would that be the normal scenario?

Honestly, I haven't even thought about it. I can't get past the lovely stories they tell.



I have also gotten calls from AT&T with an operator saying I have a hearing impaired person on the line. The other person then types what they want to say and the operator tells you what they are typing. Same stories.
 
i just got the second email today. its a nigerian money scam. ive gotten several other ones too like this asking if i can transfer money threw differnt things.
