I'm sorry to hear of your accident, but any accident you walk away from is a GOOD accident!
I got my new ride back in June, caught the OCD fever and have been babying it like only an Autopian can understand. Driving home from work the other night it was dark, roads wet from rain. Coming down a hill at 60mph and a deer comes running across the road from the left about 25-30 yards ahead of me.
Panic stop brake pedal to the floor - (the first ABS test for this ride) and a slight steer into the other lane - WHEW. The speed of the deer, distance ahead of me, my panic slow down (never did stop) and course correction and I just missed her!!!
Sure is an adrenalin rush - crap like that can give ya a dang heart attack!
I LOVE ABS brakes - Hit the ditch (often a 6' deep by 3' gulley) out here in the country in my neighborhood and yer done! I have read that the most serious damage/injuries with deer are swerving to avoid hitting them, then losing control and going off the road. Experts say to hit the brakes and stay in your lane. You can always get a another (even better) vehicle!
Glad you made it okay - put your own shoulder back - bad to the bone!!!!
