The crazy of ONR

It seems that there has been a massive craze of ONR over the past few months. WIth many people saying this is definitely better than the traditional wash wouldn't this defeat the purpose of having a foam gun?? I plan on buying a gallon of this stuff and hosing the car down before I actually apply it just to remove any loose dirt.
 
Lately, there has been an ONR increase it seems. I dont know that its BETTER than a traditional wash. I've already been through at least 4 gallons, but, it doesnt replace a power washer/hose, rather, its an alternative.



Foam guns are fun.
 
What I like the most about it is that I can pace myself. Cleaning and drying sections allows me to have a spot free wash and not RUN around the car 20 times trying to not let any soap dry...etc. And it has a noticable shine that I don't get with other traditional shampoos. QD or OCW as you dry and man it's EZ.
 
I just washed my car with ONR and it ended up swirling my paint pretty bad, but the car was FILTHY due to the snow/salt and I didn't do a pre-rinse, so if it's dirty as hell like mine was (no wash in 3 weeks with snow almost everyday) def. do a pre-rinse. If not i believe you can just wash and dry.
 
ONR won't replace my foam gun. It comes in very handy in the winter months and for people that live in apartments that want to keep their cars clean.

prolly has more to do with pressure, wash media, # of passes... etc. don't press and try to remove it all in one pass, just glide your MF, mitt, whatever over the area with only its weight. then flip it and go over it again. be sure to drag across a grit guard as you rewet. If your car is that bad, consider 1oz to a gallon instead of 1/2 and use more than one mitt, of MF. good luck, sorry about that marring-there is a little learning curve, but you'll get it.

4 gallons, what the hell are you doing with it?
 
I think there are still uses for a good old hose. I am now officially spoiled by ONR and have not done a conventional wash in many, many months.



However, a good old hose and some shampoo and degreaser works great on tires and wheel wells like I would never get with ONR. Especially for blasting sand and stuff out of wheel wells in the rear - only a hose will do.



Also, for thoroughly washing windows once in a while, only a hose will do, too. I've noticed that that little fuzzy thing below the window collects dirt and such. I don't think ONR really "cleans" that, and as such, the next time I put my window down and up (after everything has dried, many hours later), it will have dirt streaks on them!



Shampooing the windows and rinsing them with a hose seems to alleviate the problem. I think if some type of product at least just trickles down past that little fuzzy thing that is enough to "clean" them up. It may work if I just squeeze the ONR mitt while going over them. Not sure.
 
Never used ONR but have been using QEW too often to not think that ONR might be better. You know must buy something new! Any preference?
 
I still use QEW. In my opinion, ONR leaves the car looking slicker, but QEW seems to make the dirt release off the sheepskin mitt better (at least with my method). I get several car washes out of my mitt before I have do do a thorough washing of it.

Yes, I do. And FWIW, I see no glaring differences in performance between ONR and QEW. I actually think QEW does a better job of cleaning and "leaving nothing behind," which is what I want a wash product to do. When my supply of ONR runs out, I'll be going back to QEW because I can get it around the corner from my home.

I has been using QEW for about 12 years when ONR came out. I haven't bought any QEW since. Side by side, ONR leaves the paint noticably glossier and slicker. ONR cleans as well, if not better and I find it is also better on glass.
 
ONR is where the obsession began. After that it was towels, mitts, polishes, UDM, pads, etc, etc, etc. When will it ever end.

It will end when there's no car for you to drive.. :nervous2:
