"The Carnival of Carnage" starring: Scaglietti 612...and me

Hi boys and girls! Just like that one, unforgettable girl that we all had in our hometowns, this car has also been labeled as the dealership "bicycle"... everyone's had a ride (me too... with the Ferrari I mean
whistling.gif
). She's been pimped out to celebrities, taken on joyrides, given to customers for 1-nighters, been in movies, used and exploited by the press and ridden harder than Jenna Jameson in a... well you know. After almost 3 years of being used like a Ferrari is supposed to be used, her age was really starting to show (as well as the TONS of scratches that were on it from the "hey take a picture of me" people), so the owner decided it was time for her to get the attention she deserved... some Jesse love.

I wish I could have taken some shots of this disaster under God's Brinkmann but I think the pics I took inside are more than I care to subject you all to (ain't I sweet? :)). Also, I always wondered what the dealership did about the condition of these cars before they met me... Get your barf-bags out kids, it's carnage time >>

Obviously they didn't do too much about the condition... but just the other day I saw the owner of the dealership looking at his Scuderia with a LED lamp :). Got him trained now!

I didn't always use the same polishing combo for this one, as with a lot of the others I do. Reason being is that not all of the damage is the same in all places, so if the damage can be removed without compounding I don't do it. This way, I save as much of the original paint as I possibly can. I mean, why take off paint if I don't have to? I may say sometimes that I used XY combo, but I always forget to mention that in some places I used another combo because the damage was worse there. Anyway, this is the hideous bumper that was in the previous pictures after a few passes with a wool pad and InstaFinish #15 in some places and then finished up with IF #15 and a finishing pad. Generally the bumpers on Ferraris are easier to correct because they're painted separately from the body. Anyway, most of the car had to be Rambod with a wool pad and #15, but in some places I was able to get proper correction with #15 and a finishing pad. I also had to use #30 to finish in some places. I know it sounds like a lot of back and forth, and it is, but I save more paint that way and that's the goal.

Oh here's the rosso fuoco California that I did a couple of weeks ago... with a new look. Now that looks damn nice to me... The rims totally change the look of this car.

Bottom of the doors all squared away... that lift sure the heck is handy!

scaglietti_2_23.jpg

Some more pigtails!!

scaglietti_2_25.jpg

I used a wool pad and #15 on this followed by #30 and a finishing pad.

The back bumper where too many a$$es and boxes have sat...

scaglietti_2_28.jpg

100% cleared up... I was surprised it all came out!

scaglietti_2_29.jpg

Between the lamps were polished with a 4" Scholl finishing pad and S17.

Some sun shots after IPA to check my work. Also, I had to take her downstairs to clean the rims... and of course they needed to be air-dried taking the long way back to the dealership :)... what a beast this thing is!!!

Ahh, this was a very satisfying detail and now I feel like Richard Gere (- gerbils) in Pretty Woman. Though at the end of this detail I had a couple of setbacks... I decided that Dodo Blue Velvet was the most fitting LSP to use based on the color of the car, but I should have gone with my original plan and used a sealant. This color is extremely unforgiving and with the heat and humidity today BV just didn't cure right even after 30 minutes of curing and left a lot of oils behind . To top things off, when I reached for some clean MF's to remove the wax I could see the results of my wife accidentally putting my good MF's in with my junkers and door jamb rags... :banghead:. There were thousands of little hairs all over the car... Anyway, I'll go back over it with a QD in a couple weeks (we're closed for 2 weeks from Monday) after it's had time to gas and when I go back to clean her insides :).

Thanks for reading and to all the Playboy subscribers, thanks for "reading"!

Me likey the 430 challenge in the background too

Ferrari of Denver just got one in almost identical to that car.

IMO that is possibly the best color on that car and It only looks better after the work you put in.

I cant tell the exact shade of blue is it Chiaro, nart, tour de france or pozzi blue?

informative, great photos, beautiful ride, very in-depth. Awesome work Jesse! I actually enjoyed the write-up more than the car on this one ;)

I too have found the Dodo waxes to not be good in hot conditions / when the car will go directly into the sun, even if you do use a super thin layer - too much nuba. oh, and don't let Barry get to you - i'm also a swiper, not a rubber!

Thanks Jimmie! Well it's not the average demo car, but a demo car nonetheless so I guess people just treated it as such... shame, shame.

Some of your best work IMO, awesome job!

Thanks David! Yeah, it was a lot more rewarding to rescue one that's been used and abused rather than just abused, if you catch my drift ;)

Thanks buddy! It's pozzi... very nice indeed! You live in Denver? I lived in the Springs for 6 years :).

Amazing work. I look forward to your posts. Way to bring the bling back. I will say that this is my least favorite body style but still would do jsut about anything to own one.

I absolutley love the Cali though. Was at Pebble Beach when they unveiled it. The car is stunning and there is just something about a front engine Ferrari.
