The Bone? Is it a quality Wash tool?

Anybody have experience using "The Bone" by Cobra?



Just wanted to know if this was a quality wash tool or if I should just stick with Sheepskin mitts?

I'd probably just stick with a skeepskin mitt. I'm not a big fan of the....Hey!!! I'm not setting myself up for that one. Haha!

The Bone by Cobra (Take that) is ok when used with an ONR wash, but aside from that, I would just stick with a quality sheepskin mitt.

Mash media is a YMMV type of deal. I've had good experiences with microfiber covered sponges (i.e. The Bone) and tend to dislike sheepskin. On my soft NBP paint I get consistent marring from sheepskin. This may be in part due to user error (read: no accumulator-esc wash procedures for me) but the microfiber chinelle or bone type options do well by me enough to not warrant a change.
 
I know NBP is a very soft paint, but it amazes me that a quality sheepskin mitt will induce marring. That's very interesting. Are you using the two bucket method? I'm not calling you out here, but I would just like to find out what the problem is.

I have several bone sponges from properautocare....haha now you guys got me thinking about it...they are "OK" and i agree with the statement about using it with ONR, but i am on the grout sponge wagon..its an excellent wash tool...or you could try the Uber wash sponge from detailersdomain...it is a great media as well
 
Hulk, the sheepskin mitts I used were the "Genuine Wool Wash Mitt" sold by autopia. The wool felt extremely soft to the touch and I used them in conjunction with DG901, 2 bucket style.



I don't understand why it happened either but my current routine with the chinelle microfiber helps me avoid wash induced marring. It's not broke so no need to fix.
 
Very, very strange. That is my normal routine as well...I got my sheepskin mitt from Autopia, and I use the two-bucket method with DG901 as well. Creepy. :geez



You're exactly right...if it's working for you, I wouldn't change a thing.

What I dislike about the bone is that it's so thick. It tends to hold a lot of water and it really weighs down when wiping panels. I really focus on not introducing marring during my washes and using a gentle hand, and using a wool mitt or even a regular MF requires half the amount of concentration vs. the bone. It also has a smaller coverage area than a traditional mitt. If it were 1/2 or 1/3 thinner, I might give it another try.



To summarize, it just sits on my washing machine and sees no use:nixweiss.
 
Thanks for your reviews, I was thinking of getting a few bones myself (ok not funny :)) but sounds like it's not for me, too thick is no good. I have come to prefer something to hold, like a sponge. I think it's easier to wash when your hands are free and not stuck inside a thick clumsy mitt.

He uses a MF covered sponge (see post #15) that looks similar to the bone but I believe it is smaller. He gets them at Big Lots and I tried one this past weekend with ONR and really liked it.

I can't remember the last time I put my hand inside one of my sheepskin mitts. Just holding it allows more flexibility and you can easily flip it over to the clean side.

I agree with John. The sponge he was talking about using this past weekend is much more compact than the Cobra Bone Sponge. It's much easier to use.
