The Bone By Cobra - MF Sponge Review

I did a Zaino Z-7 wash today and used this new product for washing...I was pleased with the performance. Here are some thoughts:

1. Price is $7.99 which I think is very reasonable. A

2. Quality - Product is a sponge covered seamlessly by a beige microfiber...apparently high quality mf as well. Fairly nice pile depth. A

3. Performance - Very good at cleaning but I think it's important to wring out with every dip in the soap to release as much dirt as possible. Seems to work almost as well as a sheepskin mitt but my one concern is that it does not compress enough for small nooks and crannies like those of a front grill. I like how it soaks up a lot of soap which allows one to swipe a large area before going back to the bucket. B+

4. Comfort - Absolutely amazing to grip and very easy to hold on to throughout a slippery wash. A+

5. Competing Products - I have used various MF wash mitts but they were not as easy to use as this one.

6. Overall Thoughts - Highly recommended for those who want to try an mf sponge.

This sponge is very similar to the Meguiar's Quick Detail Pad which I use for the same purpose, and which has list price of $3.99 and is available locally.

I use my "Bone" for QDing after washing when the car isnt dirty and I'm just getting fresh waterspots off. Because you cant find more than a few clean sides before the entire sponge is dirty, I don't use it for dusty QD's. It works great in the role that I've given it though.

I've seen that also Mike...The Bone is a bit better in quality imho.

It might be good for Spray & Wipe applications as well. :)

Well, maybe you have the Lexus of MF sponges while I only have the Toyota, but I wouldn't know. Next time I order from Autogeek I may have to try it. I'm a little skeptical that they are any different other than the color.

I spent some more time with and purchased the Megs version of the Cobra Bone and its' decidedly inferior. The big difference is the length of fibers, very short compared to the Cobra which creates problems with dirt remaining near the surface. Also, you can tell the mf is not as high a quality.

The Cobra is more expensive but you get a much better product. Just wanted to relay my thoughts in case others are considering either product. :)

Mike, this thread is more directly on the topic of the Bone products and was started earlier. Plus, you questioned the differences so I wanted to respond once I had tried both products at length.
