The Bone by Cobra - a new mf sponge for washing

I did a Zaino Z-7 wash today and used this new product for washing...I was pleased with the performance. Here are some thoughts:

1. Price is $7.99 which I think is very reasonable. A

2. Quality - Product is a sponge covered seamlessly by a beige microfiber...apparently high quality mf as well. Fairly nice pile depth. A

3. Performance - Very good at cleaning but I think it's important to wring out with every dip in the soap to release as much dirt as possible. Seems to work almost as well as a sheepskin mitt but my one concern is that it does not compress enough for small nooks and crannies like those of a front grill. I like how it soaks up a lot of soap which allows one to swipe a large area before going back to the bucket. B+

4. Comfort - Absolutely amazing to grip and very easy to hold on to throughout a slippery wash. A+

5. Competing Products - I have used various MF wash mitts but they were not as easy to use as this one.

6. Overall Thoughts - Highly recommended for those who want to try an mf sponge.

Interesting comments on a new product. Thank you for the review.

Do you think that this MF sponge would be good for use with a detail spray?

So pretty much as good as a sheepskin mitt?

Are you doing a review of Z-7? I'm interested to hear your thoughts on it.

Since MF is designed to pickup real good I'm wondering how good they are for washing...I mean can't they pickup dirt that will scratch the finish?

I believe I have one on DetailersClub.com It's a terrific soap but has some bite, perfect for anyone with Z-2 Pro applications...or the Z-5/Z-5 Pro.

Good question! I think the Bone would be superb with a QD. I may try it with the Z-8 soon. :)

Friday is my day for the weekly application of Z8. Will try this new applicator spnge and see how it works.
Thanks for your opinion...and review.

Wouldn't grit just stay right at the surface?

This has been a problem on mf mitts I tried, but I did not see any evidence at all.

The Bone is real easy to grip since the sponge squishes and conforms to your hand. Very comfy. Try it out though and see if you like it.

It will be interesting to hear the opinions of using this product with a QD.
I stayed away from the Meg's MF QD applicator because of my concern with having too small an area of MF for removing the QD. It you happen to be using the QD on a clean surface, it might be OK, but on the typical slightly dusty surface, I'm still a little leery.
When I use a regular MF towel, I fold it in 1/4's and will use all 4 areas to be sure I have a reasonably clean towel. Quite often, I will even use 2 MF's, 1 to wipe the QD on, another to wipe it off.
Keep us up to date on your thoughts after trying it.

Great, but please just try a section at a time. I'd hate to see you mess up all that work with an experiment.:)

I don't like to use MF as a wash product. Does not release dirt well and not as plush as sheepskin. Also MF has great scrubbing ability. Not something I want in a wash product because it is hard on the last step product. Sheepskin just glides across the paint with almost zero friction.

I broke down and bought one, just like the name, makes me want to give it to the dog to play with. Going to agree with SilverLexus, its a great product especially for the price. I have paid more for bones for the dog and they only last an hour if that! :lmfao Would recommend it for sure.
