The Best tire cleaner...

Just tried Prestone's Wheel Cleaner and Brake Dust Repellant today, it did a good job of cleaning, slight agitation is required (but that goes the same for most cleaners). I'll see how the so called "Brake Dust Repellant" part works out.

I like Eagle One Tire Cleaner. I am not sure if it is still available anymore. I got it for like $1 a bottle when Sears was discountinuing their EO line.

When you guys use the brush to help with the cleaning, do you scrub the tire when the cleaner is on it, or after you've already rinsed it off?

I'd think scrubbing while the cleaner is on will be more effective, but I'm too afraid of a2z flinging onto my hands, feet, and face. So I end up rinsing off the chemical and scrubbing afterwards to get off any area that needs more work. It doesn't always make the tire look perfectly clean this way.

Wesley's contains sodium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide is the main ingredients in oven cleaner, it is caustic soda; lye; pH is 13 - 14. it can be a paint stripper I would not recommend putting that stuff on rims! specially cheap rims. It's just the opposite from acid cleaning but a lot stronger.

It is important for every cleaning professional to have a basic understanding of pH and some basic chemistry. pH and be used to your advantage or your worst nightmare.

Today I used EO Wheel and Tire Cleaner for the first time. I used it on my car after its first 500 miles. There was all kinds of brake dust starting to bake into the front wheels, so I sprayed on some EOWTC and rinsed as per the bottle, but it didn't do ANYTHING and I was pissed!:angry Then I put some more on and let it sit a little longer and then took a terry cloth towel and was able to easily wipe off the crap on the tires and now they're looking factory new. :woot:

I am not much for extra effort, when I first saw the product I tried, Mothers FX Engineered Wheel Cleaner, I liked it but it is a little to expensive. Since then I use Chemical Guys wheel and rim cleaner I think its new, Premium Blue wheel & Rim Cleaner. I mix it with about 3 gallons of water and spray it on. Only on the toughest jobs do I ever even use a towel or light brush.
