The Before and After of a Older Rim

This was a car that I did not long back, I took these of the rim before and after to show the difference. Plus a pic of the tools that I have on hand to preform the job.

When I read about people that say they have a hard time cleaning rims 99.9% of the time its either the tools / brushes they are using or chemical and dwell time.


In the after pic you can still see some baked on dust that I could not get out. Had I taken the rim off I could have done a better, this car was going up for sale and there was a lot more work that had to be done. This was the car from hell that I had to sand blast the carpet to get clean, that I posted not long back.

My only comment is on the bowl brush. It is twisted wire below the bristles. This will scratch you rims like crazy. Go to and store Walmart, or ??? and get a plastic one. PLEASE.

I was thinking about the brushes too. I assume the bowl brush was for the wheel wells and the blue bristle brush was used on the tires. The rest was used on the rims.

I got this one at a janitor supply store, they have a lot of good quality brushes. This one has a plastic handle, the bristles are very, very stiff and no chance of the metal hitting anything. Thanks for the comment but I wouldn't put anything on a car that would bring harm
