The Art of Detailing, detailing an Airstream!

Wow. A lot of work there, A lot of taping too.

Yeah, especially because you tape it, use the clear remover, remove tape to clean it, tape it again and polish. I get my tape by the 5 pack at Costco for like $12 bucks so it`s not much of an issue. I like these wide areas to get used to the Rupes 21

Dead clear removed. I decided instead of polishing, Im going to focus on getting rid of all the clearcoat on this side.

The stuff doing it`s job. It takes about 2-3 passes to be completely ready.

This side is completely removed, just before sunset.

I think tomorrow I`m going to remove all the clear on the other side, front and rear so when I polish I can just polish the whole thing. I ordered a Rupes mini yesterday and some pads. The 21 nor HF won`t go into those small spots. Her husband wants me to polish and detail his truck when I`m done so, it`s already time for another Rupes.

This is the 4th day on the exterior. It`s time to get serious!

Started on the driverside panel. This one had a lot of clear left so it took 4 passes.

(This is a screen cap not a video. The iPhone is too dumb to let you screen cap the first pic of a time-lapse)

I`m glad she lives like 3 minutes away because I have to go there and back a lot.

Tomorrow I`ll be finishing up that then back to the main event. POLISHING!

Unbelievably awesome job dude I sure hope you`re getting far more than 3-400$ out of all that work

subbing for end result. Not sure how I feel about polishing bare metal. I can never tell when I`m done and I end up not stopping until its as clear as a mirror. That may be fine for paint, but not always for metal (I wouldn`t want a delorean to look like a mirror for instance)

Have you decided what LSP you are going to use to protect that monster after you finish polishing? How many pads have you gone through? This is definitely a Rupes torture test. Too bad you couldn`t have gotten a Cyclo and a ton of 4 inch microfiber cutting pads since it is supposed to be the polisher of Airforce One! Keep shining on!

$800 for exterior, so total of $1,200

$3-400 would be for a one step, one and a half day job.

Got more progress done today. It got windy but still managed to almost get a whole side done. The front and back don`t have much metal at all. Also I`m half down on PB polish so ordered another and the RUPES detailing belt. Would be really handy right now.

Everything else from today was video. I`ll get better pics tomorrow. It was a disaster with wind and dust today.

The tires aren`t dressed and I forgot my chrome polish. I used a bit of the PB aluminum after stripping it. Only one wheel done. Tomorrow I`ll bring mothers chrome polish and do them all.

This side is pretty much done. The Poorboys Aluminum polish is great. I used most of the bottle. Got another on the way and the client already paid for it, and another payment to the total. I am starting to get tired of polishing metal but the results are great. Maybe if I run out of polish I can do her husbands truck before the new bottle arrives
