The #26 Hazed/Streaked Up . . . .

I apply the #26 paste wax last night over my #20 and today in the sun I now have haze/streaks. :mad:



The quick detailer made it worst.(EO wipe'n'shine) I know the Carnauba needs time to cure but what do I do to get rid of the haze/streaks now? Mostly on the hood.



It looks great with nice wet looking shine and smooth as hell but in the sun light it looks like crap! I should have left the #20 alone but I can't stop waxing!



Any ideas?

My guess is that you did not let it sit long enough for the amount of humidity. I would wash it. Let it dry thoroughly and then buff again.
 
How thick was the product put on - a haze, or did it turn white? BTW, there's no reason to let carnauba sit on the paint for 8 hours before removing - as soon as it hazes up, buff it off.



Then, the obvious stuff - what type of towel did you remove with? How often was it turned over to a clean/cool section?



Hazing is usually a sign of too much product on the paint and/or towels with fabric softener on them, or too much product loaded up on the towel. An outside guess would be an incompatability with a product already on the paint, but the #20 wouldn't fall into that category.



What was on the paint before the #20 BTW?



Any of these sound like possibilities?
 
I don't know why the #26 streaked (I could speculate....) but probably the best thing to do now is strip it off and start over or reapply the #20. The Medallion paint cleaner should make quick work of the #26. So will #9. But wash your truck first; it may fix the problem.



Is this an experiment and your first try or have you had success with this combo before? What about other carnauba/sealant combo?



I can't tell you how the Blitz/#20 combo will work but my advice would be to try this on a smaller section and evaluate results.



What are the directions for removal of #26? I usually remove carnaubas right after they set up, usually a few minutes. If you let the Blitz sit for eight hours you'll need a chisel to get it off.



Oh, and one last tip: Don't use a QD to flash cure carnauba. Use distilled water instead. The E1 Wet may have made this problem worse as it has teflon-type stuff in it.

In between all this there has been dusting with Cal duster and EO wipe'n'shine. The truck has been in the garage and or cover most of the time. It look great with the #20 but I thought it would look even better with the #26 on top but.........



So thats where I am now. I guess I will start from stratch but it will be about 2 weeks before I can do that. I have to racing weekend in a row. I am looking at maybe Blackfire next time!

I'm a big Meguiar's #20 user... I love the stuff. When I bought it from my local auto detailing shop, I asked the owner about applying a Carnuba based wax on top of the #20 and he said I could try it, but in his experience the Carnuba streaked when applied over the #20. I took his advice and I didn't try it. I think you may have to Dawn the truck and re-apply #20. Who knows, maybe another brand of Carnuba won't streak.

Yea megs #26 provides great shine and depth but it slightly hard to work. I get streaking on my paint with it on top of klasse. However, the paint will level out after a QD with final inspection #34. Actually I usually wipe the residue off with a dampened MF with #34. Make sure you apply it thin, it is much easier to buff and you save the product :xyxthumbs .
 
Meguiar's GC seems to be a quick fix so far. I apply a quick thin coat of GC white pad with the PC last night and so far no hazing.

Very slick and super shinning so far. We will see.



I don't really like mix and match like this but I am leaving tomorrow for a long camping out weekend at the local race track and I don't want to stare at my hazing green paint and everyone I know is expecting great shinny green paint. Plus I work to jobs so time is very limited this week and still in a drout.



I don't mind expermenting with the different combos it is the best way to learn I guess but when all is done I want a perfect SHINE!!!!



Bottom line #20 is great but I am having doubts about the #26.
 
Well if you like to wax often. Why not use Meguiars #7 or One Grand Omega Glaze instead of the #20?



#26 is a good wax thats available locally. If you want to try the best, go with a glaze followed by Souveran.



One cars waxed every month, I don't see a need for a sealant because you can correct problems with a paint cleanser without having the re-apply the sealant. a sealant lasts for 4-6 months or so, if you wax so often, just stick with wax.

Notice the softball sized dent in the fender in the last pictures. Some women just can't drive....
 
Did you try misting the surface with distilled water then wiping the surface down? This works for me! :xyxthumbs
 
I wouldn't say the distilled will do the misting job better, but it won't leave water spots which then you will have to deal with them. I always keep a spray bottle of distilled (or reverse osmosis) water for everything I do. Even use it to make your own cleaning products.
 
My initial guess would be that you used too much #26 when you waxed it. A little goes a long way. I usually let it sit for about 10-15 minutes after I wax the entire car before wiping off the excess, and rarely get any streaking-and usually #34 takes it right off. You may also want to use the liquid version the next time-it is far more user friendly.



You can get outstanding results with #26. I polished with Swirl Free Polish, Hand Polish (both from Meguiars Pro Body Shop line), then waxed with #26 liquid. This is the trunk lid of my 1990 Accord, that is the original paint and the picture was taken in September or October of last year.
