Testing of new Pinnacle products

Bill D.- Yeah, that's what I was thinking about the UP/Advanced.

mgm121499- Looking forward to hearing how they work by rotary!

MattZ28- Yeah, I hear him about how busy he is, but every time I sell something old like that I end up wishing I'd kept it. Cool that you have a dad who's thinking about building a drag car though!

Greg- Heh heh, better you than me, like Hirosh I really do have too much stuff already!

Thanks for the report Matt,

Just got my kit in today and didn't get a chance to open it till 10PM, so I just waxed my aluminum cell phone real quick.

Yes, it's very slick, can't wait to try it out next to 3M FI-II and Menzerna FPII.

LOL I hear that....sometimes I get bored and I do my stereo LCD display, my watch, stainless steel lamp, etc :D

Matt, thanks for the review. I will have to think about getting some of those polishes.

BTW, great looking classic car :up .

Very nice work! :bow

I've only used Pinnacle's waxes (Souveran and Paste Glaz). Thanks for the review on their swirl removers. Looks like they did a great job for you!

Excellent work, and a beautiful car. Well, we all know that Souveran paste looks great and now we know that Souveran liquid looks just as good. I've heard that applying the liquid on top of the paste is supposed to be even better...if that's possible. Anyone try it yet?

MattZ "Well, it did marr the paint noticeably under the halogens, and did remove some pretty bad swirls. I don't have 1Z UPP to compare it though"

-I marred up the paint BAD on mine. See my other post "Discouraged". Under the flourecent lights, outside, etc... my paint looked VERY nice. But when I applied a flashlight directly to the paint I almost got sick. How do you correct marring? I've never seen anything like it. Until I get this one fixed, I'm not using the Pinnacle swirl removers any more.

Hi mgm121499,

Just used the pair of polishes this weekend and found that the advanced swirl remover leaves a bit less micro-marring than 3M FI-II. Typically, to get less marring of this sort, you need to work the product in for longer and generate a bit more heat. This makes 3M FI-II tougher to use in general, however it seemed to work slightly more quickly, which perhaps means it is slightly more abrasive than Pinnacle ASR.

I found that if you want an easier polish to use, then Pinnacle ASR is a good alternative to 3M FI-II. Pinnacle SR is a good alternative to Meguiars #9 as well. Similar products, however I did not push the limits of the SR.

Meznerna FPII has been able to remove whatever micromarring I induced with either 3M FI-II or Pinnacle ASR. I used the FPII with a white pad on speeds 4-5. It even removed marring from a yellow pad and 3M FI-II.

I suspect Pinnacle SR may be able to do the same with the right technique, but as I had already chosen Menzerna FPII for my last step, I focused on Pinnacle ASR in my testing.

A good pair of products on the whole if you like Meguiars or 3M products. My only complain with SR is probably the presence of fillers, which is not a big deal if you are going to be using a carnauba wax or something like that in the end.

Haven't tested the liquid wax yet. Can't thank Autogeek enough. So far in my limited testing, I would say these live up to Autopian standards.
