Terrible Escalade

I know most people know how soft the new GM paint is, but I just wanted to show you what can happen w/ a few tunnel washes and a wash brush at the local coin-op. Any polishing suggestions?

I'm not saying that vehicle isn't soft, but the rock-hard GM clears can get just as marred with those dealer wash techniques.

These are the some softest I've seen. Even some MF towels can marr it.

Yes, GM vehicles do have soft clears. I own a 2002 Escalade EXT, my avatar. One time in a tunnel wash or the brush from an In- Bay and it's marred. The only automatic wash I ever use is a Touchless Laser type, where nothing touches the car except the water, wax,

etc. Concerning polishes, I'd use some Menzerna 106ff and a white pad. Remember use the least aggressive method first. Let us see it when it's done. Good Luck.:2thumbs:

If you have some 3M ultra fina and the 3M blue foam polishing pad, you might be suprised to see how well it does. Are you doing the detail today?

No the 6" pads are only availabe in the UK. I hated the 8" the first time on a porsche, but really like them now. Try to get the ones with the flat velcro.

You might try what I did for a black BMW X5: Meguiar's #83 with a 3M compound pad followed by Meg's #26 with a pc...pretty quick and effective.

I was going to use System One Polish, but the dealer thought this would be quicker. Start-To-Finish on the body alone was 4 hours.

The ONLY way, huh?

So far, it is the only finish polish that has finished close to near perfect on the softest of soft blacks via rotary. It was the only one to pass the IPA/prep sol test with nothing coming back on soft GM black paint.

I have referred it to atleast 50 plus people and all have said WOW and have told me what a difference it made.

Like Ryan has not tested more polishes in the last year then most of us combined. When I have a question about something being a PITA on a detail, Ryan is who I call.

I am a polish junkie. I have tons of bottles everywhere. Ask Rick, he seen some of them all over in my truck. He was like, WOW! That was only my quick short stash.

Everytime I find a great product, you and Todd are the first ones I call.

Seriously, if your looking for a great finish polish for soft clears, this is the one.

I already dropped too much money on Menzerna:cool:

I have UltraFina and a few Menzerna products - they all work very well. But they all have their own little quirks and pad preferences.

June, What kind of issues do you have with UF? I think I have used it on 5 cars so far.
