This is the second full detail I've done to my truck so far. I normally start a detail earlier during a warm season, but this year proved to be very busy for me.

The particulars:

'08 TBSS Black Granite Metallic

Wash/Clay: Mother's California Gold Car Wash/Sonus Detail Claybar

Polishing:

Sonus SFX 6" Polish and finishing pads; SFX 4" polishing pad.

Sonus Paintwork cleanser; SFX 3 finishing polish; Second pass w/ Paintwork Cleanser and finishing pad.

Clean-up: Sonus Acrylic Spritz; Glaze: Sonus Acrylic Glanz

Wax: Zymol Vintage

Wheels: Blue Magic Polish; Eagle One Tire dressing in moderate doseage.

Pics: After taping and during the paint clean and polish:

The detail had its time and work factor in it, but in all it is a satisfactory start. I hope to get one more round of wax on it before the cold weather sets in.

Enjoy.

lbls1- Glad to see this, seems like you haven't posted much for a while. Might've known you use Vintage on it!

[Insert usual :bow regarding lbls1's work here...]

Hey, that color looks a *LOT* like the Carbon Metallic on my Yukon XLD! Do you find it hard to spot light marring during inspections?

Hey Accumulator!!!! Yup sadly I've been away from the boards for a bit. It was hard even finding the time to do my annual detail, but since I completed one I figured it was time to visit the old neighborhood. Thanks for the notice, and yes Carbon Metallic is its sibling color for the GMCs. BGM can be tricky to find marr marks but in all I didn't have problems with it complying with the polish. This session really wasn't aggressive per se, but a couple of areas I hit with the smaller pad and did satisfactory with it.

lbls1- OK, copy all that...I sure hope you never have to *really* correct that paint! As ebpcivicsi can attest, it's simply one incredible PIA, and chasing super-light holograms will just kill ya, so I'd think twice about aggressive rotary work ;)

Heh heh, no surprise that you're still happy with your VINTAAAAAAAAGE ;) Still have/Vintage-ing the F-body?

^Yup of course Accumulator.....two vintage jobs are better than one lol (as long as someone else is doing it lol). I'd expect that you would be telling us about your vintage experience by now. Still holding out on me huh?!?!

i love BLACK on every car. That thing looks like 6,000lbs of oil on wheels. Nice job bro! I see you're a fellow LSx lover. I'm a sponser on LS1.com and TBSSowners too. Check us out there.

You got it right with that "somebody else doing it" part ;)

Nah..the RX-7 is getting auction-prepped and the Jag is still in mothballs.
