Tar and road grime removers

Yes. That is what I am talking about. What would you use for that. Thanks

Well, hopefully just car wash. I mean if your car is reasonably sealed that should be all you need. If not, I would use some APC before I would use tar remover. If you follow that advice, don`t let the APC dry on the surface, avoid getting overspray on other things that don`t need it, and rinse it off thoroughly.

The 3M Adhesive remover really is *great* stuff, I always want to have some on hand. Perfect for adhesive wheel weights, if nothing else. It`s almost overkill for tar IMO since Mineral Spirits will often do the job just fine.

I`m a little surprised the 3M is still on the market what with the VOC regs and all, I stocked up (and gave a can to my Auid tech) out of fear it`d be discontinued.

And I too wonder about using such stiff for "grime". I`ve cleaned up some awfully nasty vehicles without resorting to that. ValuGard [SIC] "A" comes to mind, agitated with their Bug Pad if necessary, or yeah, some good APC (P21s TAW or the Optimum stuff, which is especially good on grease IME).

Optimum Power Clean--I had a spent oil filter in the garbage and I guess the bag leaked...OPC cleaned that synthetic oil, which had gotten all over the can when they dumped it in the truck, like it was never there.

This weekend I was washing my mother-in-law`s car and noticed what looked like a series of random scuffs all over it. While washing none of these marks came off with soap and I initially thought they were something I`d have to polish out. After drying I examined them a little closer and noticed I couldn`t feel them like you would a scratch that looked that big/ugly.

Just for grins, I pulled out an old towel and my faithful Tarminator a try. The stuff effortlessly removed the marks. I have a feeling they were some sort of plastic or rubber transfer from things like a purse, grocery cart, etc rubbing against the paint. The Tarminator dissolved whatever it was effortlessly with just a little bit sprayed onto the towel.
