Taking off dealer sticker

How do I take the dealer sticker off my car? It's not a regular sticker, it's hard to explain. It's kind of like plastic or a very thick sticker with a sticky back to it. I heard heating it up and peeling it off will work. But what would be good to take off the extra glue on the car when I get it off? And I had it on there for 2 years because I was too scared to take it off, do you think that there will be a different shade of color under it? I hate dealers that feel they have to put on these stupid stickers. Thanks for your suggestions.

Heat it up with a hair dryer or wait until summer when the sun can get it hot, then use some thin fishing line and slowly saw away the glue backing. Any residue left over should be removed with something like Goo Gone and then you can clean up the area, polish it and wax.

I've removed several dealer stickers with just a heat gun and my fingernail.

Heat it up, and then pick off a corner gently. Once you get a corner, just continue to slowly peel it off, heating the area immediately next to your fingers. That way the glue in front of your movement will always be soft. Usually a sticker only takes a minute or two, unless they use individual stickers for each letter. That's how the last one that I removed was.
