Taking delivery of new Porsche 997 S (black)

I have a hard time believing any serious enthusiast or professional on this board would buy any sports car that wasn't a dark colour! Black is the way to go. If anyone in the entire world can keep a black car looking its BEST (even if it's not perfect), it's someone who has the knowledge and tools from this community. Enjoy your ride!

Yes the 3M film is great. I have it on my Silver bumper and its cut down the chipping remarkably well. It won't protect agains bumper to bumper contact (like when you park on the street) but the little bottle of silver touch up paint has been 86'd.

When I had my black car I considered making a little cup holder for it I used it it so much.

That silver touch up paint must have looked pretty awesome on your black car! :chuckle: Just kidding!

Well - I chickened out!! going with Silver (actually GT silver which of course, Porsche charges a hefty premium). I thought of how every time I take my E55 out of the garage even the day after washing, backing out as I look down the hood, I see the dust covering the hood. That would have made me insane with black. I love the black, but the GT silver adds that bit of "wetness" or depth that you don't get with arctic silver. For you porsche o'philes here's the rest of the spec:

GT Silver

Std. Black leather

Carrera sport wheels (w/ colored crest of course-another ridiculous extra)

Sport Chrono package

Short throw shifter

Power seats

heated seats

self dimming mirror

Bose high end sound package

we'll see about my Arctic Silver not having ''wetness"....just ordered some FK1 425 (seems to be causing a stirr). http://www.fk1usa.com/products-consumer.htm

Congrats, I'll have to check out that GT silver over on the Rennlist.

p.s. Try the Klasse VLRP on your black plastic. Porsche interiors love that stuff.
