a write up of how to deal w/ mold would be awesome and where to buy all those mold kille products.

Very nice interior make-over. that was nasty!

Thanks so much! I will send you a PM tomorrow with some more detail regarding what I did as well as the places I ordered my products from.

David...that's some crazy, next-level work you're doing there. You're also a brave individual for sure!

Top notch work my friend. :bow

Todd, that means a lot. Thank you for your recognition. Unlike you, sometimes the F in my F Cars stands for FUBAR'd. Haha! Just kidding...they're not that bad. I have some nicees to post soon that make these worthwhile.

Unbelievable work. You really did a nice, well thought out detail. Good thinking with the mask and gloves. :up

Great job on that mold and very good thinking with the cabin filter, having dealt with a similar issue, if you don't have the 1z product around, and you have a smelly AC system, I take the top off of Lysol, attach a tip that accepts a tube and soak the vents really well, aka "liberally" once I have made sure I got a good bit of coverage throughout the tract by way of gravity, I let it sit for about 15 mins, and I tape a microfiber or paper towel over each vent(this is to trap any lysol or debris I flush out), fire up the car, and locate the fresh air vent, most times its under the windshield wiper cowl, or on the outer most places of the firewall, if you turn the fan on full speed without the recirculate on you should be able to find it by hearing quickly, from there I spray the lysol directly into the fresh air vent, there is enough suction here to pull the lysol in and you get a very fine mist coming in and not liquid shooting out of the vents, give it a few minutes, and usually you have one great smelling, deodorized a/c system for just a few dollars in lysol.

Thanks and nice thought about the Lysol....I'll keep that in mind!

Very nice turn around!

How do you afford to carry such specific cleaning supplies for these types of Jobs. I hate having convertible protectants and cleaners, same with mold and ordor removal stuff. However, you can lose a job if you don't have it on hand, because shipping of them is slow at best.

Cheers,

GREG

Thanks Greg! I used to always keep one bottle of something like top cleaner or protectant on hand. You never know when you might need it...same goes for things like Klima CLeaner or whatever else. In many cases though, I am lucky enough to be able to book my clients far enough in advance that I can wait for shipping if I order right away. In this case, the client was even willing to put a deposit down, which made ordering even easier.

wow.....i have delt with some pretty nasty interior, but that is by far the nastiest i have ever seen......thanks for a great write up, now i know how to attack moldy interior if i ever come across it

Thank you LS1! There's definitely some nasties out there....we can just try to tackle them 1 car at a time. :2thumbs:

Dave the mold hunter, what a awesome job!!! I as well would like to know how you priced that job out. That is one of the nicest interior turnarounds I've seen thus far.

I'll have to change my nickname from "The Tailor"! :LOLOL I'll send you a PM regarding pricing. Thank you so much for you kind words. I am really pumped about the turnaround.

1) :LOLOL :LOLOL That made me laugh out loud.

2) I'm definitely blessed. I know we always want more but I am happy with what I have. It was nice (for a change) to be able to take the time I needed to do it right. SO many people are on a clock these days that it's nice for someone to say..."yeah...just do what you do and let me know when you're done." Thanks man! :2thumbs:

Having done these type of jobs myself, I know first hand how messy these can be. I had one customer with the same condition as yours and she actually had a mushroom growing in the car. These jobs are not for the faint of heart and you turned it around in a great way.

nice work man! Never dealt with mold before either but that was one heck of a job. Can't wait to hear what the owner had to say when she seen the vehicle.

Very nice write-up!!! Wow, I love theads that are documented thoroughly and are very educational. Thank you for sharing that with us and for the school lesson! Great work!

Todd

Very nice & well done. From an insurance standpoint, I would have easily allowed for the replacement of the Carpet & Headliner in that thing. Hopefully it stays this way and doesn't come back. I've heard that Joe Fernandez has some kind of mold meter that he tests customer's car with. I'd love to see the before & after levels on this one.

Thanks! She was like :shocked ! She couldn't stop talking about it..In fact yesterday she called me to book some of her family's cars and said she hasn't had the car out of the garage yet b/c she doesn't want to ruin it. Instead she's been driving her dad's MDX and the 650 ...payback she said :D

Excellent work David and great job explaining your process in detail! :bigups

I am glad I was able to share this with everyone...normally I don't like stopping for pictures and all the after work involved, but I felt this one had a good story with a happy ending worth sharing.

Thanks David! I've seen and even thought about having the levels tested for this job, but I also read about how mold readings don't really tell much that is useful other than you have mold. I also read they could be interpretted many different ways and there's no real standard for readings so I didn't do it. Maybe what I read was wrong :nixweiss But I agree it would have been cool to see the difference. Who is Joe Fernandez? That's a cool name.

Holy crap dwelling fungus amungus! A mushroom? That would be nuts. Thanks for the kind words!!

Awesome work! Can I get a PM with all the prices/info on the products you used? True restoration for sure!

Wow, what a detail! That is some GREAT work you've done, hats off to you!

I can imagine the owners reaction being like one of those off of Pimp My Ride. Lol.

Very nice work! :bow

Thank you! Your username wouldn't be in reference to the Cutlass Ciera SL would it? My dad had a brand new 84 Ciera that my family loved until he traded up for the Delta 88 (in 1987). Good memories in those cars.
