Synthetic wool bonnets question

Buffed out
Hello. Before anyone says get a Porter Cable machine, my kawasaki 10" orbital buffer was bought as a present for me, and I have no money for something better right now. I'm not hard core anyway, I just want my 98 camry to look decent. With that out of the way, I was just wondering if a synthetic wool bonnet will be better for polishing than the standard terry cloth bonnets that come with it.

A few years ago I had an orbital buffer using the cloth bonnets, and was able to achieve a mighty fine shine on my black grand am using black wax. Any insight? Thanks.

It depends on the condition of your paint on your Camry currently. I'm not sure how well the bonnets work for polishing (it was my understanding that bonnets are typically used for machine wax removal/buffing off), however I'm sure you could experiment with some OTC polish (Meg's Ult Polish or DCP) on a test spot with a bonnet and see how you like the results. I'm not sure what kind of power your Kawasaki orbital is able to put out, but I'm sure it's less than what a GG6/PCXP/etc. would be able to, so you may or may not be thoroughly impressed with the results. To answer your question, I'd stay away from wool if I were you, wool works great for what it is needed to do, but I don't think it would be great for your application.

Bud at Detail Plus has tons of bonnet's he is closing out at a cheap, cheap price.

Not sure on what sizes, but know he is almost giving them away.

What exactly is wool good for? Btw, my camry's paint job is still looking pretty good. The car only has 42,000 miles on it. That's almost unheard of considering it's 15 years old.

I remember when I last used an orbital with cloth bonnets, I was able to remove almost all swirl marks and had a near-mirror finish. Maybe I should just return the wool bonnet. I'm not looking for a world class shine as it's not a show car, just want it to look nice.
