Swissvax Cleaner Fluid

Yes, I put some on my hood/front fenders last night. With winter coming quickly I'll likely be switching to Collonite 845 any day. So, I didn't want to do the whole car.

Concourso is DEFINITELY a step above Saphir. There's no question about that. The jetting was OFF THE CHARTS. It absolutely left one of the wettest finishes I've ever seen. It also had the great depth/reflectivity that I expect from Swissvax or Zymol. Plus, it rained all day today and the beading is those great tight beads you get with Swissvax or Zymol as you might expect. I loved watching the water just scoot right off my hood as I drove.

I have to say though, this wax DEFINITELY has a cure time. When I first put it on the surface felt kind of rough and the wetness and depth were not that great. An hour or so later, the surface was as slick as snot and wetness and depth noticeably increased. I'm not really used to that as most waxes IME are 99% cured by the time you buff them off.

Yeah, I know what ya mean. Vintage is the same way. Unless it's misted with cold water and then buffed with MF again, Vintage will occasionally get a bit of a milky hazey look to it after sitting for several hours. Refrigerated distilled water misted on the finish and buffed off with a fluffy MF really brings out the shine and keeps it from hazing. Going over it with Field Glaze the next day really brings the gloss up as well.

Do you apply the Concorso by hand (bare hand) or with an applicator?

I used the black foam applicator that came with my Pete's 53. I love them and they work really well with high carnauba content waxes like Swissvax and Zymol. I used to apply my Zymol by hand, but it's kind of a PITA. This applicator works just as well as my hands did but I don't end up with wax all over my skin.

Yeah. I have Vintage as well. It definitely improves with a little time. However, it's a much more dramatic change with Concourso. A little time results in a much larger change in the finish with Concourso than with Vintage.

From what I've read, arent you suppossed to do a panel, wait 10 min then buff it off, repeat till whole car is done, then park the car in the sun for 3 hrs?

My interpretation of the instructions is that you apply the wax and then wait ten minutes before buffing. It usually takes a few minutes to apply wax to the whole car. So, I wouldn't start your timer when you finish the whole car but rather when you finish the first panel.

The instructions also say something about letting the car sit in the sun. Unfortunately, there's not much in the way of sun around here lately. So, I couldn't do that.

thanks alot mikeyc. I believe they said that its better to apply the wax in the sun.

I guess with the cleaner fluid, you would apply it to a MF apply to car then take a MF and buff off. Did you buff it off immediatly or etc?

Sorry, just trying to get a good idea about this stuff.

I'm pretty sure they didn't recommend applying the wax in the sun. Most products don't recommend working in the sun. Some product lines like Poorboy's say they'll work OK in the sun but undoubtedly they work even better out of the sun. Other products are totally useless in the sun.

With most products it's not a good idea to let it dry on your paint. Paint cleaners and waxes IME are the worst thing you can leave on your paint because they become a bear to remove. When in doubt, just read the instructions.

Hey Fly, not sure I'd want to see that $40 hooker (the price of CF) :chuckle:

So, worth the $60? It can only do 3-4 cars, so about $15 an application is pricey.

If you're talking about Cleaner Fluid it's $40 not $60. Plus, there is a thread on here about Phil's (Detailer's Domain) holiday sale which makes it even cheaper.

I was referring to the 500ml version. Someone posted a link here and it states it can only do 3-4 cars.

What kind of discount btw?

It depends on how much you spend. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find the thread.

I am glad that you ask: Very easy to use. If you asked me the prices should be switched between the wax and the fluid. The finish it produced on the one car I used it on was unreal. The wax didn't seem to make much difference after it.

But that is only my opinion.

I had that same experience on a Lexus ES300 the other day. After the cleaner fluid (used some Strong before that), it looked great. The Concorso topping actually gave this car a little more wetness and depth, but not that much more. CF is great.

Got mine from PakSkak. He had just gotten them in and I picked up a few stuff.
