The real story behind Swissol and Zymol is this (it's confirmed).
Swissol started first in the 1930s in Europe.
Their wax formulations can only be produced by hand and not by mass-commercialisation. Very conservative and laidback company.
Then, one of the Swissol relatives migrated to the US and...(ahem) "brought/borrowed" along the recipe there where she had big plans for it (mktg support, PR....etc). However, to keep up with demand, she had to mass-produce it and finally chose Turtle Wax company to contract-manufacture the waxes. Her line of products was called ZYMOL!!!!!!! and it was marketed very professionally and aggresively in the States. Thta's why Zymol's product range closely mimics that of Swissol.
However, as many Zymol dealers already know or pretend not to know, there are many cases of quality problems with Zymol waxes. The waxes in their transparent tubs often exhibit whitish patches and these are considered problematic products. Over the years, Zymol has dropped out of the rat race and is no longer as popular as it was back then.
Therefore, Zymol can be perceived as an imitation of the original product - SWISSOL.
When you look at Swissol, forget about Zymol.
As for the cost of the product, I agree it's expensive.
I have never believed in spending this kind of money on detailing products and I am highly aware of the "hype phenomenon" which I have described above in my earlier post.
However, after using more than 12 brands all these years (Megs, Eagel One, Menzerna, Zaino, Klasse, S100, .......), I cannot hide from the fact that Swissol waxes (Onyx) produced excellent results on my vivid red paint. It was so "alive"!!!
I also agree with LWR that Swissol waxes smell very nice.
It's not just a cheap fragrance, it's the rich aroma of all those "goodies" that have been crammed into the tub.....hence, it's exorbitant price.
I am still not buying their products due to the cost.
However, the Swissol centre does a fantastic detailing job for me for only USD 34 using clay (they call it rubber putty), Cleaner Fluid (polish) and Onyx. Simply superb!!!
