Swirls on Truck Cap. ??

I did this guys truck (f250 crew cab) the other day. its red. came out nice. but he just got a cap for the bed today. I dont know what its made out of maybe fiberglass? but its also red, and has swirls all on it. i have to take them out and polish the thing. whats the best way on doing this on a truck cap, ive never done one.
 
most truck caps are gel-coats like boats...be gentle as possible and use chemical vs abrasive products when you can. I also prefer to stay away from cutting pads with them as they will leave more swirls behind.
