Hi,

If anyone here has worked with Menzerna Intensive Polish, do you think it will get this out?

The photos were taken in very bright sunlight. The car was not cleaned before the photos were taken. The car is a 95 ford escort

swirlsandstuff

another shot of the same..................

swirlsmicromarring

The car was hardly ever washed or waxed and saw the first 5 years out in the elements. When it was washed it saw the brushed car wash, grrrgrindgrindgrind, whzzzzz .

I hope if someone has used Menzerna Intensive Polish that they can tell me if they think it will work.

Thanks

Thanks Eric,

So you believe that the white pad will get those lines out? I just received my PC and pads, so I have no experiance to go by.

Thanks

I have found Menzerna IP to be very mild. I can't remove major marring with it even with a cutting pad. I find IP works well on light to moderate marring. This is using a PC, a rotary is a different story.

For something like this I've had great luck with the following steps:

1) IP with an orange power pad. QD spray the pad, 2 quick squirts before you apply IP to the pad. Set the PC to 4, then move up to 5-6 once the product has been worked in a bit. You don't need A LOT of polish. About mid way through, mist the panel lightly to rejouvenate the polish. Go SLOW, overlap each pass, and don't do too large of an area. On a hood, I break down my application to 4 quadrants. You may have to do this step twice. It takes some time to break down the polish via PC. Rotary's make quick work of it!

2) FPII with a white polish pad, work the product at 4-5 on the PC. If you still see marring, re-apply. You can work in FPII until you have a very light haze.

3) Menzerna glaze (forget the exact name) with a white polish pad. Work the product via the PC set between 3-4.

4) Top with FMJ with a microfinger applicator. I do this by hand, but you can use a PC microfinger pad if you like. This step is a breeze. Apply to a panel, wipe off, then re-apply to the next panel, wipe off and so on.....

From the looks of it those swirls aren't that bad...it's just a neglected finsih. I would venture to say that IP will clean those up pretty easily even with a polishing pad...if the polishing pad doesn't cut it then move to a light cut then a cut pad if necessary...but I think you'll be suprised on how easily those will actually come out...just take your time and have patience...and move slowly with the PC as stated above...on your final pass on 6 you should be moving about a half inch to an inch per second.

looks bad indeed. I did a car that had that type of damage. A single pass of IP with the PC took 50% of the swirls out. At the end, I left about 25% of the swirls.

IP with a rotary would have taken care of all of them easilly.

Dude, 3M Fine Cut Rubbing Compound with a cutting pad will knock those right the f out of business. It's amazing what that stuff will do.

HI,

I wanted to thank everyone for the ideas. I will be doing the car on Sun. I will post pics as to progress and methods used.

I have a bottle of 3M Rubbing Compound, professional formula part no. 03900 Is that the same as the 3M light cut compound that you spoke of?

Thanks again for all the help

i use IP with the CMA yellow cutting pad and have had awesome results.

follwed by FP2 with a white cma pad and then a wax/sealant :bounce

I'd say that it depends on how hard the clear coat is. With a pc it may or may not get results. On Meg's forum there was a mid 90s(not 100% sure) F150 that even Mike Phillips couldn't do much with, even with a rotary it took him lots of time to see result - the clear was that hard. You just don't know until you try.
