swirls: best way to check?

Hi.

I posted a couple of weeks ago about the swirls I had on my Integra - just a question I'm sure someone will know, whats the best WAY to check for them?

The only time I can ever see if there are swirls is in direct, hot sunlight.... then when its shining on the part of the car I can see from looking at a small angle the swirls... I guess if I think bout it, the sun shining down and the angle I look make about 90 degs...

How, if I'm working on the car say in my garage at night even - could I see any swirls?

Or even during the day .. when its not sunny - how can I check my progress as I'm using swirl-removing prods?? (without bright sun this is).

If I look when its not sunny I cant notice a thing, no matter how close I look.

Thanks..Andrew

Buy your self a halogen light. I use ones that are mounted on a stand and when I really want to find out what is going on with my finish, I shine those on the car.

I agree with KIM its a sure way to see eveything in the paint. Even those things that you think you got out are still there.

What is the color of the car, I'm guessing that its a light color and thats why you can't see the swrils

Go to a lighted parking lot at night. Those parking lot lights show everything. I sometimes inspect my truck in walmart at night when I'm getting stuff. :)

Use some 8 Foot Flourescents in a shop environment

And the truth is I could use at least 6 more fixtures.

Thanks all for info .. actually the colour is torino red (its a darkish red...definantly not a "light" colour).

Maybe my swirls arent as bad as I seem to want to think...but looking straight on you cant see a thing unless full sunlight is on ... then u see plenty :)
