Swirlies--Have fun!

Is it possible to even correct that mess??

I have a black Accord, same style. This is almost enough to make a grown man cry.

Well, I am getting old and have seen quite a bit, but it still never ceases to amaze me what some people can do.

I think Steve Wonder could do a better job (and he's blind!!)

I am deffinatly no expert but If I was paying anyone any amount of money to "Detail" my car I would shoot them if that was the result!

Next time you are there for any other project, do just the decklid to show what it could look like if it was done right.

WOW look at all these awesome comments!

Well, I spoke with said sales mgr. and showed him the follwing pics:

Wow I always wondered what swirls looked like. Thanks for the awesome example. You know maybe if their detail guy turned on the lights, he might actually see what he is doing?

Thanks, Charles W

As stated last night, the sales manager is pretty familiar with my work. I think you have a great idea with doing only the trunklid, then letting them explain to a potential buyer why the difference. This will be my angle of attack, and I'll let y'all know what comes about.

I did want to add that I'm getting two different stories about this (this is not the only car on the lot that looks like this, either) Detail guy says no way he could have done that, it must have come in like that. Sales dept. blames detail guy and round and round they go.

FWIW, I've been dealing with car dealerships since 1996 in one form or another. Starting off making window stickers/buyer's guides like these: http://www.autoplusnet.com
Now my work with them covers all aspects of recon like carpet dye, trim blackout, protective carpet covers, headlight restoration, etc...

BUT, my target market for auto detail has always been mainly high-end vehicles, business owners who are sticklers for clean rides, they have money but no time or skill to take care of their cars. Getting dealers to pony up the cheese to have their inventory STANDING TALL has always been an uphill battle.

I do have one dealer account, www.motorcityofcapecoral.biz who sends me detail work and pays retail, is happy with the work, and did I mention, pays retail.

Will let y'all know how this Accord goes. I'm almost to the point where I'll do it for dirt just to prove a point. Every week I go visit this lot and walk by this Accord and it just makes me cringe.

Anyway, sorry for the long rant.

Regards,
Mike R

It is amazing to me how people that I consider intelligent can be fooled by the cheap detail shops.
Two of my friends that are involved, (quite successfully), in the business world were discussing having cars detailed for $65 complete and $40 for the exterior only.
My comment was "can't be much of a job at those prices". They proceeded to tell me what a great job it was. My response, "OK".
It really isn't worth getting into a discussion about. If that kind of job satisfies them, then more power to them.

Yeah Charles,

Value is Preception. Which is why those of us who do this for a living have to go all out to get the client to precieve value in our work and happily pay the price, and then come back again and again. After that, if they just don't get it, well, then they just don't get it.

BTW,

:dcrules :headbang
