Swirled and pitted winshield.

I recently bought a 87 CRX SI for a daily driver this winter so I can park my 04 GTO. The winshield on the CRX shows many many years of abuse. The whole thing is swirled with light scratches and has tiny pits all over it. What can I do to remove some of these and get the glass cleaned up? I have some Zaino glass cleaner and I have a PC with some sonus pads. I also have the original white pad. Should I try the PC and the Zaino, or should I just do the zaino by hand?
 
I have a 15 year old car that also has a pitted windshield. I doubt a PC and glass cleaner will do anything. You may want to try a glass polish with your PC. One Grand makes a good glass polish. Other than a new windshield, you may want to learn to live with it:)
