Swirled and Egged Porsche

Dan,

The 3M clear bra is just short of being bullet proof. I have a client that hit a bird at 120 mph in his M5. The bird just disintegrated but only a slight marring on the clear bra that was easily polished out.

When the clear bra is applied they use a wax remover on the area so it will adhere but you can apply a wax or sealant on top of the clear bra.

Cujo,

A heat induced leveler is one that cuts and levels the paint when applied with a rotary via a chemical cleaner rather than an abrasive. The Akrya line is made by Hi-Temp and is their professional body shop line. Not many detailers use it cept maybe me, not sure why because the stuff works very nice but is kinda pointless if you have no rotary.

The "orange" pad is made by a company out of Germany, I think that's right, well anyway it has a feeling much like that memory foam mattress stuff that's so popular know. It is designed to work both like a cutting pad and a polishing pad and can be used with a rotary or the PC. So on a lightly swirled finish you can use your PC with the orange pad and DACP and then after that step go directly to your finishing step if you like.

Dwayne used to carry the pad and not sure if he still has any left or you may check with him and see if he can get you some. If not CMA sells them.

Hope that helps,

Anthony

DOH!......I forgot the last part of your question Cujo.

I will always try to stay away from wet sanding if at all possible in a situation where the clear is bubbled or damaged because...well the damage is already done and for it tobe properly corrected it should be re-painted.

Bugs and bird poo are nasty, corrosive air bombs that if left on the surface too long will etch and even eat through the top coat. Best defense is a good wax or sealant plus catching them early. I give a few of my clients a MF towel and a small spray bottle of QD in case they get bombed in between washes.

The stains can be buffed and made less noticable but they are tough to remove completely.

Great work as always Athony.

The orange pads are made by Lake Country, but exclusivly distributed by CMA.

As for bird bombs stains, try OG Special Touch. I have read that OGST removes bb stains.

I wonder how those Orange Power Pads compare to Griots orange pad.

Thank you VERY much Anthony ... have you used Griots pads? They seem to cut a little better than the Megs pads from what I could tell.

IMO, the pad has good cut. More than a polishing pad, but less than LC/CMA yellow pad.

Eric

The LC/CMA Pad Cutting pad leaves alot of swirls How do you use it with DACP I use the White pad always after but still needs a good 2 passes to get ride of them.
