Swirl Remove on a 2008 VW

I have a 2008 GTI and I have noticed some (what look to be fairly substantial) swirl marks and I am looking for some guidance on pads and products.

What products (compounds, polishes) and pad combos (I use Edge Pads) would you guys suggest for a VW? I don't know how their paint compares to other manufactures and what products work best.

Thanks.

well, depending on how bad the swirls are, you can always go for the famous meg's 105/205 combo

with the 105, use a more aggressive pad

with the 205, a less aggressive one

i know this is kinda vague

but hope it helps

VWs have really hard clear. I own a 2004 and even using a Flex with orange or yellow pads and Menzerna IP, it's a real bear to get scratches out. Of course, don't start out at the extreme aggressive end, but don't be surprised if you have to move up to that to get any kind of proper correction. Not sure if 2008 paint is any softer...

I worked on a 2008 Jetta, pretty hard clear...I had to work very slowly and in small sections with my Hi Temp Extreme Cut and orange pad to get any cut and it still didnt get ~90% correction like I wanted.

That's good to know they have hard clear. I've been thinking about picking up an '08 R32. How do you like your GTI?

As an owner of a 01 GTI, I will say that with a PC, I had to go with SIP + 4" orange pads and slow, deliberate, and somewhat forced-down-pressured movements. With a rotary, 6.5" pads and SIP would probably kick ***.
