SUV roof protection

I have a Chevy Tahoe (black of course) and want to apply the most durable protectant I can to the roof so I can continue to neglect it and not feel too guilty. This is my daily driver and Im not too conscerned with gloss/shine etc because the roofline is kind of high and not seen. The roof is also disquised with the rails and rack. The rest of the truck always gets the royal treatment. wacha think? thanks in advance. SP
 
Not a bad way to look at it Jiggle. I don't usually polish out my SUV roof to the same extent as the rest of the vehicle, like you said, its not usually seen, and as long as it is shiney...



For durability, the usual suspects; AIO/SG, Zaino, Collinite all would be a good choice, my nod going to Zaino or Collinte as being easier to use.
 
The roof of my jeep gas a few scratches on it and such from offroading in the woods. I just use MEGS Nxt or #26 on the roof. Never had any problems with that.
 
Carlack 68 yellow or other branded equivalents.

Gave my mothers ford territory ghia roof one hell of a mirror shine by hand and seems really durable plus easier to use than Klasse.
 
I've owned SUV's or 4X4 pickups for over 25 years. Their roofs are always treated exactly the same of the rest of the vehicle.

I too have a Tahoe and am well familiar with the "hell of the high roof" I sometimes don't even wash it. :cry:

What I am planning on is wash, clay, wash, AIO, 2x KSG (can anyone say sore arms?) and then top it with some over the counter carnuba, Mothers or something I think that may last at least a couple months and take away the guilt factor. I'm trying it next week and will probably post pictures.

Mine is white so I'm not too worried about swirls, maybe you could use a glaze to help hide any imperfections.
 
Do you guys use a step-stool or something? On my Tahoe I can barely reach 1/3 across the roof so I usually just do what I can get.
 
Ok, everyone on here that is whining about reaching their SUV top, some not even washing it!!! Go ahead and turn in your autopia badge and membership card. You should be ashamed of yourself. I've got a fullsized E-150 that gets IW on a regular basis.
 
Megs #21 or Collinite. I would prefer #21 since it induces more of a sheeting action vs beading... which may keep the roof in better condition after washes and rain.
