Surprise....A PC!

So I was detailing my step mother's silver 2000 323i yesterday to get it ready for winter. This thing was in pretty bad shape, and I was getting frustrated because I couldn't get all of the swrils out with my hand and SSR 2.5. So I'm polishing, and working, and sweating; I get half way through with the car (wax and all - IW) and out comes my dad with a box.



He says, "Here, try this, it might help." Huh? Ok. It's a freakin' PC! :spot



He knows I'm going to start my own mobile business in the spring and was astute enough to do some research and find out what I'd need - go dad.



So that was fun, one question though - the white foam pad that it comes with, is that good for anything, polishing, buffing or waxing? I need to get a set of pads, but that is the only one I've got so far. Thanks!

Throw the stock white pad as far away as you can. That thing is useless. Most who try to use it, find after a few sessions, the pad seperates and disentrigrates. Get a proper PC pad and backing plate set. Sonus, Propel, Lake Country, Meguiars are all fine manufacturers of polishing pads.

I'd order some "after-market" pads for it, they're a million times better. Despite not being good for much, my "stock" PC pad broke to peices the first time I washed it!

This is what I do. I cover it with a MF bonnet for final buffing. Otherwise, I use LC foam pads with a velcro backing plate.



Your dad sounds like a really great guy. My dad just keeps asking me why I spend so much money on this stuff.
 
I have been using my stock pad from everything to our bobcat and bobcat trailer, tractors, tool boxes, our stationary generator, trane heating unit, etc... Still has held up better than I expected.



BTW-it is stuff like that that fathers do that makes all the hardships and troubles of being a live-at-home teen, really cool. That was very cool of your dad to do that.
 
I actually used mine when I cleaned my glass recently. I misted the windows with glass cleaner and then used the PC to work it in and then wiped off with a MF towel. Worked pretty well, but I doubt that I'll do it again. It's too much of a hassle to have to take off my velcro baking plate everytime i want to do the windows.

Yep, dad knows what's up - he taught me to take care of our cars a long time ago, and now he isn't interested in doing it anymore, so I do it. He also loves the idea of me going into business for myself via detailing since he abhors the idea that I'm part of a union ( :furious: ) as a teacher. Can't say I completely disagree with him; hopefully the detailing will add some extra income.

Nice move by your dad, mine just asked why do you want one of thoses for?!?



Like others the stock pad has never left the box yet!
