Surf City Garage products

Not bad products for the money. Their QD, Dash Away Interior Cleaner, and and Glass Cleaner are supposed to be excellent. The good thing is you can get them OTC now at Walmart and Pep Boys.

I liked their glass cleaner (never used other SC products) but since PBMG and others do not carry it I just use other products.

There must be over 50 excellent glass cleaners on the market (according to detailers), and a quarter of the detailers swear by water alone as their interior glass cleaner. ;)

Heinz Cleaning Vinegar is my newest glass cleaner. Cleans, polishes and no chemical build-up on cloths. It also includes an automatic rinse solution when washing. :)
It looks just as good next to Sprayway, Megs, and Zep Foaming.

I have used SCG

Barrier Reef Paste Wax. Very nice. Easy on, easy off, respectable shine. It stands tall among any other $22 paste wax.

Diamond Edge Metal Dressing. Excellent cleaning and sealing abilities.

Beyond Clay. Sure beats the hand-held clay and it gets the job done.

A Federated Store and NAPA store near me carries a small inventory of SCG. They carry Mother's too, except most of it is over a year on the shelf, and none of the Ultimate Line is there.:(

You can find mixed reviews on just about any product online.

I have used clay bars, sponges, and BC and have had satisfactory results. They all worked well for me. Perhaps it's because my cars are kept clean and clayed at least 3 times per year.

Besides, all the products sold by detailing vendors perform as described or they wouldn't be selling them. Right?:D

Last year at a car show I attended my number was drawn and you pick a prize. I grabbed the 4 pack product sampler. The soap is as good or better than anything I have used(not saying much though) it seemed to have good suds in bucket but doesn't foam very well through a foam gun. Stuff smells great. Windshield cleaner is alright, nothing to brag about. The detail spray I really like and that also had real nice intoxicating smell like the car wash. The interior spray I wasn't to fond of. Over the winter I was in a Walmart and noticed they carry some of the product so I bought a can of Great Barrier Reef Carnuba paste wax. Just like the detail spray and the wash it has a great smell. It goes on easy and comes off easy but doesn't seem to last, but I gather that most carnuba waxes are for show and not longevity. I bought it for use just before any car show I had planned on going to. I have used it once and liked it. Can't beat the price of the wax at $17 I think I paid and it is a big can.

Dean. :bigups

I'd rate the paste wax at 4 to 6 weeks, which is average for competitors.

At less than $.40 per application, 4 to 6 weeks is pretty good.

I know, Collinite will give a year for less, but....it's name isn't as flashy..:)

I just stopped by NAPA to get some Anco wiper blades for the wife's car and took a tour of their detailing inventory.

I was shocked!

Mother's has 3 items on the shelf and they are mismatched items.

SCG has taken over! Even Meguiar's products were downsized.

What's going on with Mother's? An online vendor shut down my order because he is dropping the line. Is it disappearing from the East & Midwest?:(

They have a pretty good showing at advanced auto parts here in cleveland..Just got their vpl interior cleaner - great stuff.

I've used a couple of their products. The Hot Rod Protective Detailer and Speed Demon Wax Detailer are both decent. I use either after a wash, as a detailer, for a little shine and UV protection on my DD. I think the Speed Demon gives a sharper look on silver paint. The Dash Away Interior gives a mat finish with some UV protection, but I found it left a subtle film on everything, a couple of days after application. Most likely this was user error, but I don't use it any more because I don't like the look or longevity.

I tried SCG when it came out and for the money I was not impressed. I rather spend the money on a product that me and my customers like and can see a difference in on a vehicle.
