Hey all, I recently used an electronic paint gauge to measure the thickness of my paint. And im glad i did. Turns out I have very little clear coat to work with...less than .9 mils on some spots. That said, my question is whats everyones suggestions for a fairly non aggressive polish to remove very light halos or swirls from normal wash and wear. Keep in mind its a daily driver and im not looking for show car looks, just a nice shine. Ive got wax and sealant covered, but want some advise for polishing. Thanks, Erock
Whats everyones thoughts on XMT 360??? I hear from some real pros this stuff is great!!
p.s. will be using FLEX 3401 polisher

You doing this by hand or machine. A good chemical polish would work in this case. Poorboy Pro-Polish would be the one I would use

I'd probably try the 360, or Optimum Poli-Seal. You could even try something like Wolfgang Finishing Glaze if the paint is soft as well. Japanese cars like Honda, Acura seem to clear up well with a finishing polish like WGFG.

With that said, you'll probably want to look into some of the new coating systems like Opti-coat or Cquartz so you can get the ultimate protection for your thin paint.

Good luck

Personally the new Megs MF poish kit/system has given me good results and not very aggressive. I use it with a PC on finishes I want to remove defects at a slower rate, on unsure clear. The compound is not heavily abrasive and finishes out very nice. And I'm a long term rotary user for corrections.
Its at least worth watching one of the videos on it.

John's suggestion on CQuartz or Opticoat would be wise after.

Menzerna PO85RD is also a good light polish too with lots of gloss. One of my regulars.
