Sunday's Details - v. Modded 350Z and a Blood Red XKR

So I took a nice 2hr ride out to Brooklyn this morning around 7am for a member over at Autopia. We have been trying to set up a day that both fit for us. I have seen pictures, but this thing stunned me in person. He was a long time Zaino user, but was ready for an introduction to some new products. I found EX-P to REALLY bring out the flake and be dripppppy wet over the PO106 polish. I think he felt the same way :D

A heavily modded, but tasteful, Nissan 350z. Car was in exceptional condition, but definately needed some TLC. Light buffer swirling on hood and roof from a re-paint/buff, light marring/micro-marring on the rest. Rims needed some TLC as well. My final processes were:

-Mother's Gold Wash
-Was clayed by him recently-
-Menzerna PO106 (Ceramiclear Line) via rotary and LC Polishing Pad @ 1500rpm
-EX-P by hand

-VM on rims and emblems
-Old No.7 Chrome Polish on exhaust
-PO106 to polishing lighting
-Bold 'N Bright on tires and plastic trim

Next for the day was his friend.

A 2000 Jaguar XKR in RED. Gorgeous machine IMO. My favorite model, trim, and color of this car, but what a mess! He had it "detailed" by accident (they did it without asking him) this week in 40 mins :shocked . The extent I saw was buffing the hood, fenders, and mirrors with a wool pad and compound. They left and absolute mess for me which I got most of it out. I didn't want to cut extremely hard on this expensive finish since it only had 11,xxx miles on it and I didn't want to pay for a new one if I went through (no paint gauge yet). However, the swirls were VERY deep. My final processes were:

-Mother's Gold Wash
-Wolfgang Clay
-SSR 2.5 and LC Cutting Pad via Rotary @ 1500rpm
-Menzerna PO106 and LC Polishing Pad via Rotary @ 1500rpm
-EX by hand

-Bold 'N Bright on tires and wells
-VM on lighting and emblems
-Old No.7 Chrome Polish on Exhaust

Nice work Sean! Now I'm sort of want to go wax my silver finish! Do you find PO106 is a good polish for other clear finishes? Not just the special Audi/Benz clearcoats? Good work :bigus
 
Thank you everyone for the kind words :) . They help me forget about the 4+ hour roundtrip and pullover by NY Finest this morning...

jaybs95: Tell me about it! He told me he snails around when he's in Brooklyn. However, he goes to school at Rutgers full time and has a house on the Jersey shore so he's ok then.

The Woob: PO106 has become my new go-to polish. It cuts like SSR2 or Speed Glaze and buffs to a mirror finish (5 out of 5 for gloss by Menzerna's scale). So far I have enjoyed it on my car and these two.


I think both came out real nice. I was really happy with the Z's combo. The flake is blatant! Here are a couple more pics just because :D

Great work, also, what does the VM stand for? Also why did you use EX-P on the Z and EX on the Jag? Also what brand makes Bold N" Bright?

VM - Vanilla Moose by Clearkote. EX-P on Z for light colors and pure sealant. EX for dark colors cause of Carnauba. 2.5 When worked doesn't really need a final polish, but I've heard using a finer polish gives more shine. Bold N Bright by Poorboy
 
AZ Ferrari:

VM = Clearkote Vanilla Moose Hand Glaze

I used EX-P to bring out the silver flake and EX to bring out the depth of the 3-stage red.

Poorboy's World makes Bold 'N Bright.

SSR2.5 is a pretty high cutting polish. You have to go to a finer (abrasive) polish to get an ultimate swirl free shine.

Those rims, the spoiler, SICK!!! nice job!!! now if only i could drive a car like that.........


oh, and is that exhaust stock? my instinct tells me no, but im not sure
 
Nope. They are angled so I'm saying modded. I think there is a modded blown black Z around here that is sick to see

Sean, Very impressive work!

From all the treads I have read in the past I was under the impression that you could go directly from 2.5- sealent from this post it seams like your recomending to polish afterwards?

Could this be a result of a rotary vs pc?

Once again great work!
