Sundays Detail - Porsche

good good good job

hey i ws wondering, was the paint in that bad condition, where you had to go as far as using the ssr3? also, was there any kinda topper you used over the ex? just some questions, as always. great job!

Zesty,
I only used the SSR3 on the hood. There were alot of deeper swirls and etching on the hood. No I didn't use a topper, I usually dont apply a topper on customers vehicle unless they are on a maintenance type program. Toppers are more for the look they give and, IMO, once you apply a topper you need to keep it up.

Good job Eric.

How many passes and at what PC speed did you use the SSR3 on the hood for? Also I assume you used a white pad with the SSR3?

Shameless bump! :huh

I am considering SSR3 for my hood which has deep scratches and water spot etching. So I too am interested in wifehatescar questions. (Will be using PC with either green or yellow Edge pads).

Steve (PB) warned me about getting too agressive with SSR3 since I don't have a thickness gauge and I'm being a little chicken.
Please help us o'grasshopper of CD! :bow

Wifehatescar, I did 2 passes with the SSR3, (white LC) starting at about 4 then cranked up to about 5.5 - 6.0. I actually spent about an hour on the hood.

Shoots, the whole detail took about 5 hrs

Hisurf, basically as with any polish I just try to pay attention to the curves and edges as that where the paint is the thinnest. I also look at the stone chips as they can be a good indication on how thick the paint is. Basically I try to work my way up, least aggresive first

Thanks for all the comments guys

Eric
