Okay guys, im fairly new to the detailing scene but over the past 3 or so months ive turned into an addict.....lol

Anyways, here soon im going to be detaling my truck and was looking for some advise/suggestions from you all. I have a 99 Dodge Dakota R/T with a custom paintjob, a deep metallic purple as a basecoat with dupont chromeillusion flames painted front to back. It has light swirling but other then that the paint/clear is in great condition. I was planning on claybar, polish with Optimum (applied with pc), 2 coats of EX-P, and topping with Trade Secret

im wanting the flakes to pop like crazy while having it wet looking as possible an was wondering if you guys would do anything much differently?

The products i have available are:

Opt Compound

OCP

OCW

AOI

SG

EX-P

Nattys

Nattys blue

Trade Secret

heres pics, cameras not the greatest but you get the idea:

Welcome to Autopia :wavey , and you have a really cool looking custom paint job on that Dakota :xyxthumbs

You have a very nice lineup of some of the "to have" products on the forum. The only thing I would recommend is a PC (buffer), some good pads (polishing, light cutting, cutting) and some high quality MFs, (PakShak, Excel, etc.). All the other small things should fall in place; tire shine, car wash, glass cleaner, etc. I usually pick that stuff up locally. Since you have a nice array of products I would just experiment with them and see which ones pleases you the most in workability, durability and looks. Remember prep>lsp, so as long as you have a nice swirl free finish i'm sure Natty's, Trade Secret, SG or EX-P will all look great.

Thanks for the welcome!! i should have my pc by end of the week along with some LC pads (i ordered the topoftheline kit off there site) along with some PB's wheel sealant an i got a good bit of Excel MF's too :) rest ive picked up locally, Sprayway glass cleaner, NXT tire shine (been doing my homework). I also have a crystal grey metallic wrx STi which is more of a dark silver then grey so im looking forward to detaling that in the near future as well :)

Ive done some detailing an have some experience with a pc so not totally new but still not as good as i want to be, just gotta keep at it.

But thanks again for the advise, and Keep it commin :)

The Optimum compound will take the swirls out nicely and the Polish and a polishing pad or finishing will work out the compound marring perfectly .

I think ex-P x 4 24 hours apart after 1st 2 coats + Natty's Blue topper x 2 is going to be the show stopper .

Aio for glass and chrome cleaning and maybe 1st paint prep with a final finishing pad , and the AIO + SG + Natty's for your lower rockers .

SG looks plasticky so you dont want your flakes distorted , but it protects very well .

3 coats you will be good about 3-4 months if you dont use any tar removers or such on the rockers . Ex-P in 3-4 coats would last awhile longer if done right I'm sure , but wont ruin the look
