My advice... Use what you like, make it simple, one or two types of stuff but no more (you dont need 4 different types of polish or wash or sealant or wax), keep it down to a minimum and you keep costs down and keeps everything much more simple. Try as hard as you can not to get talked into new waxes or sealants. I am one that got sucked into those and have 30 different LSPs and only use like 3, not really because they are better or what not, but just because I like them more.

Things I am debating or planning to purchase this week....

Purchasing by tomorrow:

Sonus SFX Clay Green

P21S Wheel Gel - no need IMO, better OTC items like Eagle 1 all wheel and tire cleaner

Plexus Plastic Polish - another option would be mothers (cheaper and works great)

Autoglym Glass Polish - not sure if this would really be worth while, from what I have read it doesn't work too good, maybe I'm mistaken though

Edge 2000 - Is this a good choice??? - are these pads? If so i would just recomend Propel pads from Exceldetail

Debating which combo to use with PC(Novice)

Menzerna IP - no

Menzerna FPII - no

Optimum Compound - yes

Optimum Polish - yes

Optimum Wax - good for quick details

PB SSR 2.5 - no

PB SSR 1 - no

PB EX-P - good easy to use sealant but not longest lasting

3M Rubing Compound Fine Cut - no

3M SMR - no

3M Imperial Hand Glaze - no

P21S Carnauba Wax - only if you want to offer a concours type wax for expensive details on those cars that are owned by rich guys who just garage them lol

Pinnacle Carnauba Souveran - same as above (not worth the price IMO, yes looks great, but Natty's blue is right close)

Any other amazing waxes? again, dont get sucked into the whole you need to try every LSP available, you only need a couple...

My recomendations: OCW for the really quick details, CGs Butter Wet wax for the cheap quick details (but not spray wax)Nattys blue for the carnauba, CGs Top Coat sealant or their new ones (haven't tried the new ones yet though) for the basic sealant, Klasses AIO and SG or Zaino for the long lasting sealant

Thats what I use anyways, for the most part.

wow. you have a plethora of products. Whats your favorite car wash - I really dig the MG GC - IMO - its the car wash I can always turn to when another product I try lets me down, good suds, great lube, nice even shine, makes drying a breeze.

Actually my favorite car wash would have to be the Zymol Auto Wash, I just love the smell which goes away anyways but it leaves the car very smooth. Down side is that its pricy, I think about $12 for a small bottle. Megs GC is that next one I goto for general uses. Zymol is hard to find locally these days for me.

i'm with honda guy... not on his yes/no opinions but just the fact that it's too many products... just try them all on 1 car and see which ones you like best... stick with 1, maybe 2 carwashes and same for types of polish... i personally use only meg's and 3m polishes, but want to try poorboys and optimum, just to see how they work and compare to the ones i already have... i wouldn't keep more than 2 types of polishes though

same thing for waxes... 2-3 that look good on different types/color paints are good enough

good point on the car wash - you can get a gallon of gold class for the price of 12 or 16 oz of zymol....... but the Zymol is far better smelling, and probably has higher quality lubricants/cleaning agents. It better for the price . . . . Thats the only thing that has strayed me away form zymol - very very expensive - I owuldlove to try some of their estate glazes though . . .man they are pricy

It looks like you have a *lot* of products. Which isn't a bad thing, but can become expensive and not needed if you're just buying things to try them. I would try to slim down your selection and pick products for specific purposes and stick with them:

*I would definately pick up some quality microfiber so you're detailing doesn't get ruined with your final wipedown with a costco microfiber

Here is a quick list of the products I use if needed on every vehicle I detail:

Quality Microfiber Towels

Zaino Car Wash

Stoners Invisible Glass

Cyclo

Lake Country 4" Pads

Woolite/Meguairs APC for interior

Hi-Temp Extreme Cut

Optimum Polish

Blackfire Finishing Polish

FPII

Meguiars #21 Sealant

Z8 Detail Spray

Amazing Roll Off (Rim/Tire/Wheel Well Cleaner)

WD-40 (Bug and Tar Remover)

GR-40 Trim Cleaner

Blackfire Tire Gel

Zaino Z-16 for Trim

Zaino/Sonus/Duragloss Leather Cleaner and Conditioner

Various brushes for nooks and cranniers

Steam Machine

Wet/Dry Vac

3000 Unigrit Paper

Yeah I plan to purchase new mf towels. I think i'm going to be ordering the Edge 2000 Pad kit due to some good reviews on them and the ease to use. Then probably branch out to get some Lake Country Pads.

Really I go through some of these products to just try them out. Like I said in my previous post, I don't use them all.

I think i'm gonna also purchase Optimum Compound, Polish, and Wax. How abbrasive is the Polish they have, or even better is there like a chart as far as how abbrasive all polishes or just most are compared to others. Looking for basically steps as far as going from least aggressive to agressive.

Chris

Bought some new products on the way... I had a very hard time deciding what to get. Well I saw many results that I liked with the EC/OP, so i went and got a bottle of Hi-Tech Extreme Cut and probably going to try that 50/50 mixture. Added to that is the Optimum Compound and Polish. The hard thing about the purchase was the debate of Optimum and Menzerna, so I ended buying the Menzerna IP and FPII. I guess i'll have to experience it myself and see what is going to work for me. Last I got some LC pads 2 Orange and 2 White, along with the Urethane Backing Plate.

In addition to that I picked up 2 Meg pads 7006 and 9006 with the Megs BP. Bought this stuff at a local paint shop. They majority of the 3m line and a bunch of the Megs Line. Too bad they didn't have the 8006.
