Suggestions on how to buff out odd scuff

So I was walking back to my car today and noticed this scuff under my driver's side door.

I have no idea how it got there, so I can only assume I was careless at some point or hit something on the road. This scuff is smooth to the touch and doesn't seem like the paint was broken in any way, and it is not a scratch or any residue on top of the paint. I've never seen anything like it before, so the question is, will this buff or polish out?

I do have some experience with polishing, and have a Porter Cable with cutting and polishing pads. Any ideas as to what products to try to get it out? I currently have Zaino PC, but not sure it'll be good enough. This thing really bugs me and I'd hate to have it repainted, but am afraid that might be the ultimate solution.

(P.S. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic and dirty car! It's been raining here off and on and haven't found a good time to wash it yet!)

You can try using a polish to remove it but what I would do is hit it with an old piece of sandpaper and rub it with a rotary. If the 1st approach doen't work and the 2nd isn't possible, take it to a good body shop and it will take them less 5 minutes to remove it.

You should have no problem buffing it out with a yellow or orange pad (try the orange pad 1st) and any reasonably aggressive polish. If you are referring to ZPC, it should work.

i get those sometimes on my sideskirts too.mine are usualy shoe scuffs and they kinda look like yours.i just rub them off with a cloth and some wash solution.comes off easy like on a basketball court.

Sandpaper? For that? I'd be suprised if it took more than a light cut pad and a medium cut polish.

You'd really go to old sandpaper first??? Do your cars have any paint left on them?

How about licking your finger and trying to rub if off first...

Really all you need is a little polish on a MF or some cleaner wax. This should polish off by hand.

Nah, some guy with 500+ posts says use sandpaper first!
