suggestions on detailing a '00 Tahoe?

Hello all, been a lurker for months, coming over from CTW. I am gearing up to detail my '00 Tahoe I bought back in October.

Basically, I bought it in Maine, where it spent all of its life and drove it back here to Minnesota. Seeing the weather is finally getting warm, I'm looking to do a full detail. I just detailed a buddys black 01 silverado that was in much better condition than this and it turned out awesome.

But my own Tahoe scares me.

This is really the first time I have taken a good look at the paint under the 1200watt halogens...

pretty bad huh? that scratch is through the clear and paint...

These are the products i have:

PC with mostly all Poorboys products

-LC white and yellow pads

-Meguires W7006 and W006 pads

-Poorboys SSR 2.5 and 1

-Poorboys Pro Polish

-Poorboys EX-P

-Poorboys Natty's Blue

-PB's clay

-PB's Spray and Wipe

-PB's bold and brite and wheel sealant

-slu of MF's ranging from store bought to PB's to Meguires.

-4star shampoo also (the only non PB product i have)

I will branch out to other products someday, but for now i will stick with what i know

Any thoughts on how i should go about this? any pads i should get that i do not have right now?

I'm scared.

Wash, clay, 2.5/yellow, white, 1/white, black. Natty's Blue by hand.

Use the store MF's in the beginning while you're wiping off the 2.5, then start using the good ones as you finish.

ProPolish with an agressive pad may be beneficial in some areas. It also finishes great with a black pad.

Make sure your wheels are very clean before applying the sealant.

Good luck.

go over it very slow and twice with your more aggresive stuff, and you will fix alot of that (its alot more steps but its too bad you dont have a rotary). It will take some time but im sure you will be able to fix that. where in Maine did you pick it up by the way?

These might make you feel better, I used only a PC on this (probably close to what your dealing with) So dont let it scare you too much.

I will owrk my way up to a rotary some day. but for now, i want to learn the products and how they effect paint before i go and try a rotary.

I picked up the Tahoe from Portland. I think the seller was from South Portland.

To give you an idea, I worked on my buddy's truck last weekend and the results were great. After a wash, clay, wash, ssr2.5 once over and a Pro Polish once over, both with the PC then the natty's by hand with a spray and wipe inbetween most of the steps, it took me almost 8 hours with no interior work.

So i am preparing for a dawn to dusk or 2 half days to wcomplete this. If i can't, i'll have to take more PTO....

Thats too bad Im 10 mins out of portland. I would have loved to have helped you out, we could have had it done in 3 hrs or less. The rotary is king for that kind of stuff, its alot more steps to do it properly though(esp on black). You'l get it though. I look forward to seeing the afters.
