I made my own flyers using Microsoft word, but what do you guys recommend to put on it and what not to put. So far I have the heading "Mobile Auto Detailing" the services I do on the left side and the types of cars I do on the right side followed by the basic starting price. On the bottom left is my email phone number and right side a Car on the flyer

Is it a good Idea to have the prices on the flyer, or will customers get scared because of the price ?

Good question :) To me, it sounds like the flyers are good! If people are really interested in your services, they will contact you to get more information. One thing I might add is an introductory coupon of maybe 10% off or such, that might help get some people motivated (and get hooked on having a professionally detailed car) :)

Just my two cents! Hope it helps :)

are you looking for higher end clients, or are you a "i'll do everything from a pinto to a ferrari with the same wash and wax process for the same price" type of detailer???

paint correction, or wash and waxes?

high end or low end/volume?

No getting into the High End Detailing right now, first going with basic cars trucks. Once im all set I will go into higher end cars, Not offering Paint correction right now.

then yes list prices!

I would do:

wash and wax package - about 60-80 bucks

wash and wax and interior package - about 100-120

wash and light AIO package - about 125

wash light AIO polishing and interior - 200

DONT GET INTO THE A LA CART ITEMS LIKE A CAR WASH. It always boggles my mind that they will charge 13 to wash the car, but to vacuum, dress the tires, dust the interior, etc, it ends up like 23 bucks and thats the norm for me yet in my area, with all the competition and undercutting, its tough to get 25 bucks a wash!

Damn people just dont understand they are harming the industry, I had to lower my prices here as well due too competition. Here are my prices wash and was and interior start at 75 dollars for as small two door car. 2cabin trucks and minivans wash and wax including interior start at $100. What do you think ? is that too low ? He have guys here doing wash and wax and interior for 65 dollars sometimes even 50 !

Just because you have people undercutting on price doesn't mean you have to lower yours; what you do have to do is figure out a way to show people your service has more value than the cheap hacks are giving them.

I have never had any real success using flyers but that's not to say it won't work. I would agree, though; put prices on it. Starting prices only and/or a range gives you some flexibility to adjust when the job warrants it.

My dad taught me that you can not compete in price and provide a superior product/service and be profitable. There are always people willing to pay a higher price for better quality. I have gotten away from doing washes and basic cleaning because there is too much competition. I raised the level/quality of my service and now have little competition, but I do have to work a little harder to sell my service, as the potential customer base is considerably smaller. Most of my business comes from referrals. Quality work is the best advertising you can do.

Flyers are just the means to an end...getting people to call, or getting people to your website so they can read up more on what you provide!

You need to separate yourself from the rest of the pack if you want to succeed! I am learning this and my work backs up the fact I am not cheaply priced anymore! Time to start getting paid for it!.

You guys are so right, I raised my price, because I know we deliver good service and we do it right. Therefore I just need to wait and start getting clientele. I did flyers sent my little brother to apartments paying him 5 dollars per apartments to put them up on the the side of mailbox only takes him 10 min at the most. Also leaving them out in cars parked outside the mall etc. And also put myself up on craigslist. Where else do you recommend to advertise myself ?

careful with the apt, you could get fined for it

never put them in mailboxes

if you end up with a bunch of them on the floor, you can get fined for littering even though the person who owns the car threw it on the ground.

Craigslist is a good place to start for cheaper work..thats why people go there, for a deal. What is a link to your post?

Fine for putting on mailbox ?

It can be considered a federal offence to use a mail box for anything other than mail.

Try talking to the apartment offices. Sometimes they have creative ideas. Most will put flyers into new move-in packets. I have had some tell me when a community function was going on and invited me to participate. They will also know the best way to advertise in their community. I even had some of the office employees want their car detailed on the spot and then they became my best form of advertising.

Hit up local grocery stores, gas stations, etc. and see if they have a bulletin board for people to post products/services for sale. Also see if any oil change/quick lube places would be willing to hand out fliers or business cards for you. There are a lot of ways to get the word out to people without spending a lot of cash.
