Substitute for microfiber detergent

Whats a good OTC substitute to microfiber detergent. Microfiber detergent is not the cheapest thing in the world especially when washing MFs after every use. Would a product like Woolite be ok to use? I'm not going to damage the MF's in anyway? Thanks a lot for your help.

I use whatever we have in the wash room. Usually that is All, but that room is controlled by another who resides with me.

I use Costco's Kirkland Signature Color & Perfume Free liquid detergent with a little vinegar on the rinse cycle. I've never tried a mf wash, but even if it worked better than what I'm using, I couldn't afford to keep using it.

Any "free" detergent should be fine. I've used ALL and Tide "free" and they both work great. You don't need your towels to smell like a spring rain or a bowl of potpouri so why use the scented stuff? Also, the dye/frangrance-free detergents tend to rinse a little cleaner, reducing any hazing casued by the color or fragrance.

Also, how are you enjoying this beautiful weather in C-Bus!?:hifive:

Yeah I know its been really nice. Great weather yesterday at Mid-Ohio.

Thanks all. Looks like I will stop buying micro-fiber wash. I tried a vinger wash once on some old MFs it did seem to refresh and make them softer. I think a little vinger and some detergent might work out good from now on.

I use cheer because it is what we use for our clothes. I also put vinegar in the rinse cycle every few washes. I was my grunge, drying, polishing, window towel separately. If I just did my personal cars though I'd be washing them together. I tried microrestore and didn't notice any difference. Biggest difference I've seen was when I bought a new washer and it could dispense the vinegar in the first rinse and had a second rinse.

I use any of the free type detergents...Tide...Era...Wisk....ect....and they all work fine....with a front loader I now even skip the vinegar ..with a 1150 rpm rinse spin I found it removes the soap much better than a top loader...towels come out looking like new....and feel like new...

Have you ever thought about getting in there and going for a ride Al??

I use All free and clear. No problems at all.

No...but I am sure my kid has thought of it...lol.....when the towels come out they are almost dry.....I use the spin cycle to spin dry my pads now ....they come out almost ready to use.....

Exactly! Front loaders wash much better to start with.

Interesting about the front-loaders not needing the vinegar rinse.

While I stick with the MF detergents because they work better for me, Autopia's resident textile expert, DFTowel's favorite detergent is (IIRC) ERA.

yes..I was amazed how good they clean..first time I used it I thought it was broke...I did not see water in it..lol...I heard it go in...it uses about 4 gallons of water for a load..I use less than a ounce of detergent for a wash....and even the greasy MF's come so clean...it has a setting for a double rinse and I use that for the towels.....it also has a sanitizer mode where it super heats the water on the rinse cycle...

Best money I ever spent....it like night and day from the old washer...
