Subaru Legacy

Hey guys,

I'm helping my neighbour out this weekend taking a few scratches out of his Subaru Legacy. I've never polished a Subaru before, what is the paint like? Hard/soft? Thick/thin? Its a pearl white...

Thanks for any tips/help anyone can offer

Some of the older ones can be hard but most are soft and thin

106FF with white pad usually gets out all marks.

In my experience (and I've done more than a few Subies for our local Subaru club), Subaru paint is moderately soft, and pretty easy to correct. I'm usually able to get out swirls and light scratches with Sonus SFX-1 or Hi-Temp Heavy Cut. Both of those polishes work well for me, and usually finish LSP-ready if used with an orange light cutting pad (if you have to use a cutting pad, you might need a second round with a lighter polish).

IMO, the worst thing about Subaru paint is that it's pretty susceptible to rock chipping.
