stupid questions

i know this is a really stupid question but i should ask because i dont want to hurt my baby's paint job. my car is a deep red color, kinda dark but has a clearcoat finish. i bought some of that mothers carnauba wax to use after i wash it. i was wondering what the best way to apply it was. i read in another thread that it was a bad idea to do it in a circular motion because it will leave swirls. when i buff it out how can i tell that its done ? im really sorry this had to take up forum space.

Lots of different opinions on application. I have used circular and back & forth motions both and really didn't see any difference. IMO, with a clean applicator to apply and a good towel to remove you aren't likely to do much damage either way.
As far as using Mother's Carnauba, I would follow the instructions that came with it. :dunno

applying in a circular motion by no means causes swirls. its a dirty surface that causes the scratches... altho i do prefer applying in a back and forth motion mainly because i feel i do a lot less work and apply the product evenly..

there are no stupid questions, only stupid people too proud to ask one! I have heard that too, but I don't think that is true. I think that if you go in a back and forth motion, that somebody commented you get a better look or different look as it goes against the way the wind flows over the car, or something like that. Best IMO, to just follow the directions.
