Stubborn Water Spots On Window's, What To Do?

I have some really bad water spots on my windows, IG won't take em off, water and vinegar is a nadda. What do you guys recommend?

The first step: Autoglym paste glass cleaner. This is the thick one, like a syrup. It has mild abrasives in it and should remove the water spots.

Second step, assuming the autoglym didn't work: Cerium oxide. It's a glass polish used in astronomy to polish and contour telescope lenses. Many companies, including JC Whitney, sells a kit for 30 bucks. It contains the cerium oxide powder and a 3 inch felt pad for your electric drill. It'll clean up your glass like new and you'll have enough stuff to keep your windshield perfect for the rest of your life. Cerium oxide removed mild wiper scrapes from the wife's car without adding distortions etc. Great stuff.

Zaino's glass polish, can be applied by hand or PC. Works great at restoring glass and removing spots!



or, Duragloss makes a glass polish that can usually be found locally that works about the same.

I've tried most of the above...but I have a better solutions (at least one you should try first). Also, if you have water spots on your windows, you likely have them on your mirrors...and NEVER, EVER should you use any form of abrasive on your mirros (trust me, the reflective coating will come off). I recommend using The Water Spot Remover from Pro Products (prowax.com). It is an acid based cleaner and should only be used on glass surfaces...but it is about 10 times easier than polishing off water deposits via abrasives.

You can get it in the cleaning isle at Home Depot for about $7. Works well. Or amazon





It's a fluffy solid that you make into a slurry with water. Has abrasives which remove the spots. You can read all about it at the above link.

You can also use chrome polish if required, but it will most likely leave some small scratches in your glass that will then need to be buffed out with a milder polish.
