Stripped opti-coat ... 22PLE now on the car.

Guitarist, you're a real piece of work

Well, look at the guys site... he has a whole section dedicated to OC... has he even tried 22PLE? BTW, there are at least 2 very good detailers on here that will tell you that it looks better than OC, so it's not just me.

I kept the applicator pad used to apply the coating and have checked it a few times. I checked it today and one side of it is VERY hard. It lets you know how hard the coating really does get. I am going to get a few more pictures when I have a day in the sun that I can get a little distance away and where there is no trees or anything around. I noticed walking to my car the other day coming out of the store that the coating is looking better and better.

Both 22PLE ans CQuartz had more depth IMO that OC.

The C pillars on my car (bushed black metal) was night and day difference between OC and the latter.

Given the 3, I would choose OC for longevity. The latter IMO looks better in my eyes. How long this stuff lasts - it's too new to make a assesment.

Yes it is to new. It feels very hard, but that doesn't mean it will stay that way for a long period. Sort of like Hardbody from Wolf's... very hit or miss from everything i've seen. My car is at least garage kept. I may even keep a coat of wax on it to help a little more, but I haven't seen how this stuff reacts to water yet. From videos it looks pretty good though.

Did you top it...

Reload, etc - just to give it some slickness....

UWWP seems to be a 2nd favorite.

I'm sticking with Reload just because it's both silica based

I have not topped it, but I may try my 915 soon.

Whoa....

The whole point of coatings is not attraction to dust, etc....

I would not use good ole nuba - if 915 meant Collonite..

I sell the coating I prefer looks wise? How hypocritical of me.

I don't really care if other detailers care about the look of 22PLE. I was just stating a friendly opinion.

Besides, OC is permanent, 22PLE is not. Why would I sell 22PLE when I already up charge people for Wolf's Hard body?

I also think Wolf's looks just as good as 22PLE when first applied. :behindsofa:

Wolf's has a very hit or miss record in it's reviews which is why I chose not to use it. 22PLE thus far does not. It looks better than OC. I have OC'd quite a few cars and now have used the 22PLE so I can give my customers an honest opinion on what their options are and what looks better.

I know that OC is permanent, but over time the looks and the water beading fades away, so I will see if this one gives me a year or more of the same performance as day one and even if I get that, i'm ok with adding a layer of it once a year.

You sell the coating you prefer looks wise, you have an entire page dedicated to OC. I think many people here just put a plug in for the product they push when something else looks good. Wouldn't it be better to have samples of panels out that the customer can choose for themselves? That would only give you, the detailer more options and chances to sell a coating over a standard LSP.

I'm not worried about the dust because it's on my own car. The majority of work I am doing is to simply test what works and looks good. People still like to sit out and wax their car once in a while without having to worry that it's going to wear off in a week, so if I use it and can get an idea how long it lasts then at least I know what to tell them.

Reload is quite expensive IMO for what little you get.

My point is what's the point of doing a coating then if you plan to put 915....

Do a panel in 1/4 panel with 914 and do one without.

Aside from longevity with a coating, it's also about how it's cleaning. Especially with a topper that keeps slicks it.

well the slickness is part of it, but ONR also leaves a slick finish when using it in the QD ratio and I don't have to worry about buying another product since I already have that one. You also have to understand that if I have a layer of wax on whatever i'm using that water spots getting into the coating have less chance of doing so. OC for instance does not do well when it comes to bad water... such as what we have around here (all town water that we pay 300.00 every 3 months for and I can't even wash my car here without buying a filter)... politics I guess but either way. It's still an option for me. I honestly would prefer to put nothing over the car. It looks so good right now i'm dodging any little thing that looks like it migh be a puddle lol.
