Street Dreams Detail - Dinan BMW 135i

I saw some E1 clay at a detail shop today and it didn't look too old. . . I'm not sure if it's discontinued or not. If you want it and can't find other sources let me know and i'll look into it.

It seems to me the message here is be careful with what you put on your car's finish.

I beleive that clay shears the contaminates out and that is it grabs it as you slide over then the contaminate sticks to the clay which kind pulls it out. I have used clay for a few years and never once seen a scratch or light swirl from it.

Hype or help for automotive paint?

By JOHN PFANSTIEHL, Contributing Editor

..........."Contains No Abrasives" is found on the literature or packaging of some clay products. We all know that’s stretching the truth. In fact, the clay product patent claims I’ve read clearly state that the product contains abrasives. However, I’m inclined to give the marketing people a little slack in this area. The main reason they’re taking liberty with the phrase "Contains No Abrasives" is understandable: the general public thinks "abrasive" refers only to rough, aggressive materials. If a clay bar displayed at K-Mart said "Contains Abrasives," it’s a safe bet many people would avoid buying it out of fear that the clay could damage or scratch their paint.

The abrasives in most automotive clay products, and certainly in the retail-distributed clay products, are so fine that people will not see visible scratches when they are used, and the gloss of painted surfaces will not be reduced. In that sense, clay products are not abrasive, at least in the public’s understanding of the term.........

after using both Mother's and Meguiar's I tossed each of them out and use "Clay Magic" brand. I love the stuff.

I cut the bar into four sections and have only used one on the last two cars I've done.

Please keep an open mind and if you get some, all you really need is the fine-cut or "blue" bar.

Geeeeeeez Dave! This is getting to be a regular thing with you. One great detail after another! I know this wasn't your typical 3 day job, but, boy did you make that bimmer shine:rockon:

Great job my friend.

More truly outstanding work. Also reminds me I forgot to post my 135 over here (of course it's no Dinan though).
Always love your attention to detail:rockon:

Nice work David... the car looks great (as they always do with your details!)

I have also found the Griot's polisher to be a very solid performer and an excellent machine.

Only the best detailers impress me with white and that one looks incredible!

Nice job on that little rocket sled.

Mercy! My buffer has never seen that side of the hood! :scared:

 Yeah, I hear ya Jack but then again I don't have a Dinan carbon fiber air box either!!! Not only did he buff it out but he layed down some Rejex. Now THAT"S a great idea for that CF.

Get moving Marc, that 135 detail was impressive as can be!

Very nice work David!

Thank you Bryan

Yup, I have only used it on a few cars so far but I really like it and it is a solid unit. We shall see how it holds up after many more corrections although lately I have been grabbing back for my rotaries more often.

What a gorgeous car!! Wonderful attention to detail, Dave.

Just out of curiosity, what did you use to clean the wheels? I've got a new set of all flat black wheels coming in soon for my truck and was just wondering what I should use on them. Do you find Rejex to be pretty durable?
