Street Dreams Detail - BMW 1 series Winter Protection

I like the idea of the higher optical properties of Z2, but need the some swirl hiding properties. I'm detailing a car with black paint that has some swirls in it. I've read the Zaino Bros website and it says you can mix Z5 and Z2, but to always finish with Z2.

I would like to only buy one of either Z5 or Z2. I guess my questions are:

1) Which is better on dark colored cars (assuming swirl free paint)?

2) Does Z2 have swirl hiding/filling properties?

Z2 does have swirl hiding properties. Below is quoted from Zainobros.com:

Z-2 bonds with the paint pigment and will get "wetter," "deeper and richer" with multiple coats, it will also help eliminate swirl marks. Z-2 is a hydrophobic-based

For dark colors especially black, you would definitely want to go with Z5. Z5 is thicker and does better job on swirl marks then Z2. I wound't be too bothered by the higher optical propertieis of Z2. Most people can't see the shine difference between Z2 and Z5 anyway. Some even prefer Z5 over Z2 on black car as they claimed it seem to give a deeper shine.

It will fill in the swirls faster and provide a killer shine.

Here is a pic of one coat (before and after) of Z5

If your only getting one (1), definetely get just z5...

I prefer the the more depth to it on both my red and white car though the shine does seem a lil more candy-ish as some have called it as opposed to the mirror finish of z2.

One major caveat to my opinion, the only time I've used z5 I've used it with zfx. Dunno if that would make a difference.

I'm a novice in the Zaino field for sure, but even a novice knows that the product you're looking for to hide swirls is Z-5.

Excellent job as usual David. I am glad to see BMW is now offering the smoke wheels as an option. That brake dust accumulates way too fast on bright silver wheels. I had an M3 that was just crazy with dusting with stock pads.
