Street Dreams Detail - 2010 Black Camaro Extensive Paint Correction

It was really, really bad before, but man does it ever look great now. Nothing beats black when it looks like that. Great job.

I probably missed it but what did you use on the tires?

David,

Awesome Job! That car went from Charcoal to jet black. Owner must have been thrilled!

When you were polishng the rear bumper do you treat it like the metal panels or is there a different process than with the metal panels? I have a scuff I need to polish off and I was wondering if I need to do anything different than I did on my hood? Also, my rear bumper was re-sprayed in June if that makes a difference.

That car is dripping wet...looks great! Thanks for sharing.

Jeff

Dave,
You did it again! You go from disaster to spectacular. Nothing new for you though. I cannot how bad that car looked with such low mileage. These dealers are truly hacks. Thank god we have detailers like you to bring the finish to the way it is supposed to.
Killer work as usual Dave.:Dancing Dot:

Polishing bumpers that are plastic is not particularly tricky. In this case I was able to remove regular swirls and marring on the bumpers faster (because the clear was softer) compared to the rest of the car. However the deeper RIDS I was unable to chase down. Also when using the rotary on plastic the likelihood of hologramming is much greater, as you saw from the hack job done before I got the car, the bumper showed the worst.

So just be mindful to spend some extra time burnishing the polish at low speed to minimize the holograms as best as possible BEFORE you move onto the finishing stage which should knock them out completely.

David excellent job!!

What polishing product did you use with the LC Crimson pads?
Did you applied Menzerna powerlock by hand?

Congratulations
Art

I used M205 with the crimson pad. I normally do not use M205 for finishing on non metallic black cars but after a few test spots I found it worked very well on this finish and as usual it worked fast and without hassle.

Powerlock was machined on using a gold LC pad, speed 3.5 on the griots machine.
