Streaking with #26

I put 2 coats of 26 on my black

94 Miata, good shine but a lot of

streaks. What can I do to remove

the streaks without taking off

the wax? Thank you
 
Wash it and leave it in the sun for 10-15 minutes. This will help soften the wax a little bit. Pull the car in a garage and wipe down the car with cool distilled water. Something I read in one of David B's articles.



This should eliminate the streaking of the #26.



If not, which #26 did you use? liquid or paste?



Did you apply in really thin coats?



Did you work in the shade and the surface cool to the touch?

You can also just wash your vehicle with warm water. Dry with whatever you normally use and then take your polishing clothes and go over the vehicle again. This should take care of it.



I do agree with the above post. About being out in the sun also. Use very little #26, it goes a long way.
 
Yep....very thin coats of #26 (I use the paste) does the job. I have found that letting it sit a bit longer also makes it easier to remove ( I'll apply wax to half my truck before I start removing). Basically if you can hear the cloth removing the wax, it is on too thick.
 
or is this something i'll have to find out on my own. i haven't used #26 yet, but i bought some a couple of days ago. i also bought the #7 polish. but anywho, about how much would you guys use on say one panel? right now, i know i put too much wax on. but sometimes, it seems like it's just water from the applicator and not enough wax. of course, that would explain why it's sometimes difficult to remove the wax i use. anyways, just wondering about how much you guys use. someone mentioned that a little goes a long way.

Branson, Are you using the paste or liquid? I prefer the paste for wax myself. So I really can't tell you how much to use. I just swipe the applicator in and then start spreading it on my truck. You said something about the applicator being wet? I don't think you are suppose to wet the applicator.



On the #7 Polish, make sure you don't let it dry. You need to buff it in wet.



One other thing, make sure you use a lot of towels on your ride. I use about 8 terry cloth towels to remove the #7 and at least 4 to remove the wax.
 
thanks. i always moistened the applicator. heard it somewhere. i'll try it dry though. i'm using the paste. well, i'll wash, polish and wax today so i'll let you know how it turns out. i need to pick up a few more towels though. thanks again
