Streaking Windows Solved (Part II)

In case you missed the first episode, I've tried most everything to get rid of my streaking windows which happen everytime I clean them...

Doesn't matter if I use any combination of Eagle One 20/20, car wash soap or Windex with a microber, 100% cotton or paper towel. Doesn't help much if I go over it a second time either...

I decided to finally take on the recommendation of using newspaper. No streaks, none. Wohoo! Hopefully this is not a one time occurence and my windows they appear this clean.

My story was much like yours, you name it I tried it. Nothing would get my windows totally clean. I always had some small streaks, lint, always something and it drove me nuts. I was about ready to just give and live with the streaks. As a last resort I turned to newspapers, they are great!!!! No linting or streaking. I have been using them for about 2 months now, they are the best thing by far I have found on windows.

I have never used the newspaper thing to clean windows. Could some kind soul post some pictures of how you hold (crumple) the newspaper and how you get into the corners and all.

I also would like to know if you can use newspaper on window tint.

I basically use crumpled newspaper buffing as the final step. I buff horizontally and vertically and evaluate how clean they are in different light conditions over the next few days.

So far, this has worked very well for me.

I was wondering this myself.:nixweiss

I tried just crumpling up a newspaper and using it to dry off the Stoners IG. Didn't feel very good(like it was somehow 'scratching the glass')

Do you dry it with something FIRST, then buff with the newspaper?? Is there a special way to crumple it?? And how do you get into the corners??:nixweiss

Thanks!

Good questions:)

Newspaper wont harm the window at all. Ive been using this method for a year. All you have to look out for is your hand getting black from the ink.

"Do you dry it with something FIRST, then buff with the newspaper??"

I use Sprayway and either Bounty Paper Towels or a microfiber towel to clean the windshield initially. Then I use a three or 4 crumpled Newspaper sheets to final buff.

I don't really understand these questions. It is really not much different than buffing with any other material. You should crumple it in a way you will be able to grip the newspaper. You push the newspaper into the corners the same way you would with any other type of towel. Should not be too difficult to figure out if you try it.

Newspaper is abrasive and I doubt it would be safe to use on aftermarket tint.

I mean, do you crumple it, then flatten it out as if it were a towel? Or do you just keep it in a little 'ball' form and use it that way??:nixweiss

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough...

Keep it in a ball form. I don't believe the crumpling of the newspaper is important. The only reason to crumple it is to have something to grip. You would rub the glass with the flat side. I made a newspaper ball quickly and it was about 4 inches in diameter.
